He said it was $9925.


If anyone is interested I ll give you the Stores name and #,, I am not involved in the sale at all.

It has tanked (Daytonas)!!!!!!!! I turned down a Daytona at retail ($9900) a couple weeks ago. They are everywhere. I wanted one when they were $7900 a couple years ago, then this year then shot up to $9200 then $9900.

I figured I could buy a couple more vintage GMT's for that kind of cash. Although the vintage market has settled down, the Rolex retail market is going crazy with the high prices. If a dealer isn't discounting new watches, I don't see how they will survive.

I wonder if the price has a bit to do with it, MSRP was around $6,800 two years ago. I think the SS Daytona has finally reached a price point that has many customers rethinking whether it is worth it to have a $10K plus sport watch!

Now you can walk into an AD,, get a SS daytona in YOUR name with a bonifide warranty for $9925 and there are no takers.

Must be the economy.

I got mine a few wks ago for $9200 and am tickled.

Who would have thought the SS Daytona would become common place at MSRP??

In other markets it is the economy slowing down,
in the area of Athens where I live, my local Rolex agent NEVER had one available.
Now he has a white one in the window for 11.000 euro..!!!..
He Pays 8500 euro for it which includes 19% VAT

and Tourneau here in the good old U.S. of A. is charging $17.000 "BECAUSE is RARE".

I've turned down three Daytona's this year (two from one AD, and one from a second AD). All were black dial.

If the first one (turned down in January) was a white dial, I probably would have taken the plunge. Market is definitely getting softer for them, especially at $9925. Heck, even the DSSD starting to sit in AD cases, and you can get them used at less than MSRP plus tax. Same with Z serial Sub date's...right around $4k now, in excellent condition.

Is it possible there is an alternate reason here.... That rolex has shifted focus due to their observations of the economy.

My point is thus, if they make X daytona movements a year they can case them however they want to; while many of us can not simply buy a SS Daytona at the drop of the hat, it is within reach or financing or whatever.... while a gold / lepoard whatever is well beyond many esp. in this economy.

So if I were Rolex I'd start throwing the 4130 in as many SS cases as I thught I could move given the historic backlog for this watch and be happy to simply be moving product.
