Hi! Rolex-newbie need advice
Hi everyone!
this seems like a great forum so far. I am very new to rolexes (or rolexs?!) and would love your advice. I am proud father of a 3month old baby boy, and am looking to get a 2017 rolex for him as heirloom down the road. The thing is, on the official Rolex website under 'New 2017 Watches' https://www.rolex.com/watches/baselworld.html there are only 7 new models. Does this mean that there are no new 2017 Submariners or GMTs?? I just thought it would be more meaningful to pass a same year model to him in future... Thanks everyone! looking forward to spending lots of time on here. I'm sure i will have more questions for you experts.. |

If you are referencing a new 2017 release, then no there are no new GMTs and Submariners from Rolex. However, you could buy a new 2017 GMT or Sub from a trusted seller or AD that would be brand new and named/dated in 2017.
When you see the year listed and associated with a Rolex, typically it's not the year the model was released (unless it has "Basel" in front of it to indicate a new model) but the year the watch was purchased, i.e. named and dated on the warranty card. Hope that helps, best of luck with your search and as the recipient of a watch given to me by my father, it's an awesome gesture and it's my most prized possession. |

The brilliant watchmaker and watch repairman, Mr Al Jensky of Archer Watches taught me a lot about watches and the plural is Rolex or Rolex watches |
