DJ has many more models so not a fair comparison, but clearly on the forums and with WIS it is the Sub.

The only thing that I don't really like about my 41 DJ is the "Easylink". I prefer the Crown clasp cuz all links look like one piece.

When you say "most popular" are you asking what's the most popular worldwide using sales as the barometer? Datejust, and it's not even close.

Or are you asking the handful of people who happened to join TRF and happened to be reading this thread what they think the most popular model amongst themselves is? In that case, the Sub.

TRF, like any forum, is a self-selected association of minuscule numbers compared to overall Rolex buyers/wearers worldwide and should not be confused with a legitimate, random sampling or cross-section.

For example, very large percentage of Rolex sales are Lady Datejusts, some even say the best-selling, single model men or women's. Yet the male:female ratio of TRF participants probably runs at least 1000:1. Some women buy and wear Submariners, but for every 1 doing so there's probably 10,000+ wearing DJs and OPs each. Women and their preferences are severely under-represented on TRF, because apparently not many women who buy/wear Rolex watches are interested in yacking about them enough to join a dedicated internet forum where that's all we do. Why?..who knows, but I'm going to guess it's because what we usually yack about isn't interesting enough to take them away from whatever else they're doing.

Well, my intent was to leave the question vague, so I can get broader views.

An interesting post CRM and you may be correct.

We hav almost 200000 members on TRF and I wonder how many Rolex watches this represents.

Could it be that this represents the sum of all the watches that Rolex manufactures in one year and also a cross section of the models?

See guys? That's why it's impossible to answer the OP's question.I'll show you an alternative perspective

Only Omega knows which models are best sellers but based on threads on the OF over the past 4 years....

✓ Most popular, discussed about models on the OF
1# Planet Ocean
2# Seamaster 300m
3#Seamaster 300 MC
4# Speedie Pro ( Yup. Moonwatch, takes 4th place)
5# Aqua Terra

✓Best Selling models on the OF
1# Seamaster collection ( SMP + PO)
2# Speedie Pro

✓ In Reality outside the OF, the best selling model is actually the Constellation series, loved in China and the Middle East

✓ Best Selling pre owned on the OF (but data inaccurate depending on inventory and buyer population)
1# Speedie Pro ( all variants ) 38%-40%
2# Non Pro Speedies 25%
3# Seamaster 300 ( all variants ) 25-30%
4# Planet Ocean 5% ; Aqua Terra 5%

So what do I think about which is the most popular Rolex model ? I don't know since I don't make it my business to sniff out other people's wrist....

I believe it would be the DJ as most people that buy a Rolex just want the iconic looking DJ, I've seen more people wearing the DJ than any other Rolex model.

Although it's a fantastic looking watch, Personally I'm not a fan of the DJ and I would go for the sub any day.

I think the DJ is the more versatile model and therefor the more popular overall.

I'd say from a sales standpoint the DJ. On the whole I'd say few Rolex owners are as passionate about the subject as us and as a rule would normally choose the Sub. Though there are those who choose the Sub because they just want a Rolex "Everyone knows Rolex is expensive" but more of those individuals probably choose a DJ because they are generally in the case and more available. Others whose wives want them to have a Rolex "Everyone knows Rolex is expensive" choose DJ because they are prettier or match their own Rolex. IMHO

Maybe another good question for the forum. How many men on the forum own a datejust model, I, II, or 41, and own a sub?
I think it's a very good combination of watch for any dress or occassion
