Athens is burning !

During my brief stay...
I wanted to buy a duty-free Rolex Deep Sea and those
bad boys in Athens, set my favorite Rolex show room on fire
The good part is that the tear gas used was of excellent quality..

It is a shame. My wife and I went to Greece and loved it, Athens was great. We walked through Syntagma Square where the rioting is taking place. It's a crying shame...hopefully it ends very soon.

Sorry to hear that TK. Saw quite a bit of the action on CNN. It all started over the shooting of a 15 year old boy by the cops and then escalated all over the country.

Hope things return to normalcy soon.

With great risk at sounding ignorant, if anyone should riot it should be us Americans at the bailouts/rewards going on in this country. God bless the Greeks passion, we could use some over here.

My hotel is right in the center of Syntagma square.
I am still here and today is the Pan Hellenic workers strike
There is a lot of anger, poverty, unemployment etc.
All the right ingredients for social unrest...plus
a goverment that does absolutely nothing !

Man, I hope everything works out over there. People getting hurt either physically or financially is never a good thing. Good luck to all those out there near this crisis.

I was in Rhodes, Kos, and Athens not too long ago and it was the most beautiful country I've ever been to. Man, I could really enjoy a gyro right now!

This unfortunate event was only the spark that set off people with other, deep seated grievances. Being Greek myself, I can assure you the country has more than it's share of problems.

Stay safe Taso, Mihali and Velitsko. My cousins live in Kypseli and we have friends that live in Theseion. Hope they are okay.

I'm glad this didn't happen when i was there, would throw a spanner in the works, that's for sure. But i have to say ALL political parties in Greece are the same shit and corruption/nepotism is widespread in all sectors of society. Unfortunately i don't believe this will ever stop, it's too deeply ingrained.

As for cooling down anti-Rolex anarchist nerves, i suggest the following be dropped by helicopter on the protestors:
