Oysterflex underside "flaps"
Has any Oysterflex owner gotten fed up with those "flaps" on the underside and removed them? I've had mine since December, and they are still a bit annoying. I'm not planning to remove them on mine, but wondered about other owners. Were you happy with the result?

This is my reservation about getting a Rolex with Oysterflex bracelet. What did you not like about it? Uncomfortable?

Those flaps kind of feel like edges, not sharp, just to the point that I get self conscious of them sometimes.

I’ve always wondered how they contribute towards comfort. I guess they don’t?

my least favorite part of the OF strap. I don't hate them, but I don't like them either. Especially after wearing everest bands for years, I happen to know they're not necessary.

They act as shock absorbers almost, and keep the rubber from full direct skin contact which can feel sticky and uncomfortable in heat.
I think they're brilliant. SO comfortable. |

They don't bother me in the least, but I really don't have anything else to compare it with, i.e. Everest. Maybe I just don't know any better.
For the time being, it stays in the collection.

"Underneath each half is a patented longitudinal cushion system, which is basically a collection of strange rubber flaps with a funny name. They’re supposed to “stabilize” the watch"
"On the wrist the Oysterflex does have the same rigidity that you’d expect from a metal bracelet but without that cold, silky feeling when you first put it on. I don’t know if I feel like those pads stabilize the watch (whatever that means), but they do allow some air to circulate between the rubber and your skin. A few hours into a hot day this will become your favorite feature, I promise. I thought I’d find the gold clasp annoying and heavy, but it actually balances out the watch nicely, making the whole package feel more complete." https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...e-rubber-strap Rolex states its there to stabilize the watch. I didn't notice the 'flaps' when I put it on my BLNR, it felt a bit weird but not uncomfortable.

oysterflex is a failure imo. for the amount of money spent by rolex they could have bought out everest.

i would have bought one by now if my AD could get one. So failure i dont think. Restricting PM supply though could lead to the line being a failure as ive been looking at other watches i also want instead. SS supply issues i understand, PM not so much.

I hate rubber straps.
I've only tried on an Oysterflex once and it felt okay, but I was at the AD and not wearing it out in the heat and humidity, not that we have a lot of humidity here most of the time. If for some unfathomable reason I were to purchase a watch on an Oysterflex, I would probably just put the watch on a leather strap, if the Oysterflex annoyed me.

Oysterflex underside "flaps"
I put one on a Daytona and did not like it at all.
But to be fair, I wear straps and bracelets loosely. So the see-saw of riding above, and then below, my ulna and then tapping my pisiform just got on my nerves. It felt differently underneath and I couldn’t get accustomed to it. If you like a firm fit then your experience may vary from mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’ve been saying this for some time now. The oysterflex and rubber straps in general work much better with the weight of a SS watch vs Gold. |

you might be on to something here. Especially because its a PM only option. At least officially. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the strap was designed around the weight of the case as the flaps are supposed to stabilize the watch vs just making a rubber strap.
