What kind of Animal is the Kermit?
For Kermit owners, why did you buy it?
What do you see the future of a Kermit being? I think it’s a great looking piece but the current ask price seems insane |

a kermit is not an animal, but is an amphibian...a frog.
I don’t have one, so sorry, I can’t actually offer a useful opinion. |

a cold-blooded vertebrate animal is still an animal.

hmmm...you’re right. I stand corrected! I never really took to biology class.
And so as to offer an unqualified opinion to the op...I think the prices, while seemingly high are only going to continue to increase over the long term, as they seem to do with the more popular rolexes. |

The LV was the first Rolex I ever bought. I went in to look for a regular Submariner but the colour of the Kermit just popped.
Bought September 2005 from Ernest Jones in the Bullring for £2650. No discount available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Really beautiful. Do you still regularly wear it or has ever increasing values made you think twice?

Thank you. I wear it maybe a dozen times a year. Just when I get the feeling to wear it. Sometimes just to go out shopping or evenings out or to watch events hosted by my AD. It’s got more sentimental value to me over the years. It’s pound and pence value doesn’t come into the equation as it will never be sold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Easy to see why you would buy a Kermit. Maxi dial with old style slender lugs case ( best of both world older and new style look ). Fun aluminum green bezel that you can easily change to black if you wish for another look to the watch ( even better than the 16610). The maxi dial makes the watch appear bigger while it retains the sexy look of the slim lug case ) Rarity factor ( less produced and the 50th anniversary of a legendary watch) . To me a uniquely looking submariner and a very beautiful watch.

Yup, maxi dial with the slender case. Lighter case and bracelet make for an overall lighter watch on the wrist. Interchangeable bezel insert to a black one for variety. Beautiful watch.

Ha ha ha. Replace slim with slender then proceed to change lugs with legs and it would still be appropriate for both a watch forum and a dirty old mind. lol

I cared nothing for it till I saw it in person at one of my local trusted seller... Then I wrote a check and walked out wearing the watch. Very classic proportions with a little flair to keep it playful. I will say at the current mk1 pricing...I wouldn't have decided that quickly as I did back then.

Kermit was my very first Rolex. F serial and still own it today (sentimental value). It’s the one on the left in the photo. Also have a mint D serial (watch to the right). I did own a Y serial that I reluctantly sold. No idea why I sold it and it still keeps me up at night at times.

I was well aware of what I had at the time. I sold the watch at current market value at the time and the Y serial was selling at a premium then, just no where near the premium it is selling at now.

The 16610lv was the first Rolex I had ever seen that actually caught my attention. Back when I knew nothing about watches, I remember passing a Rolex case and thinking they all looked plain except for the 16610lv. I was in college and couldn’t afford a watch but I thought if i were to get one, it would be that one. I didn’t know it was anything special at the time but for someone completely unacquainted with the brand or even the category at large, it still caught my eye.

I like the green color pop but the maxi dial didn't work for me. Seemed too full/busy for the 5-digit case in my eyes and on my wrist. I realize I am the minority though.

I paid a premium for a NOS Kermit and would do it again. Perhaps my only regret is it makes the case of my Hulk look quite chunky in comparison which is why the Kermit gets a lot more wrist time.

There is a huge disparity in selling prices for the Kermit. Just look at Chrono24.
My watch is from 2005 and I think a fair selling price in a private sale would be about £10,000. That’s about $12,500. I bet I don’t achieve that in reality. Some dealers are selling it way above that price but I bet their margin is huge. Btw I’m not selling and never will but just saying. Current value of the Kermit isn’t ridiculous in the context of pricing of current models like the BLNR, BLRO etc |

Bought my LV to celebrate my 50th , as the LV was introduced to celebrate 50 year anniversary of the Submariner . So to me it was a 50th for 50th birthday present to myself . And think it's the pinnacle of 5 digit submariners in my opinion .I wear mine on a regular basis ,& its future will be with me regardless of current price craziness .
