Gmt ii blnr and ln

Been on waiting list with deposit for BLNR for 11 months.

Phone call from AD today to say he has transferred me to a new list for the “new” GMT reference to be announced at Basel in March.

He has told me that the BLNR, LN and WG BLRO are to be replaced with the new movement and potentially a new bezel colour combination and the current model is to be discontinued and they will not receive any more from now on.

Disappointed to hear this but slightly cheered to hear about new potential references.

My money is on the BLNR not getting updated for the new movement. They for sure will update the LN (and potentially the WG GMT) -- anything beyond that will be a surprise, but I don't think it's the BLNR.

This will increase the collectibility of both 116719 WG BLROs if this is the case. But I'm surprised that they're most likely going to change the GMT lineup again instead of updating the Subs especially considering that all of the steel GMTs are selling really well.

OK, the LN is really old at this point having been released in 2007 as are the gold and TT references. If anything those are definitely getting the new movements.

Crazy that the BLNR is being discontinued before the Hulk that's been in production for a lot longer. In a way I hope they don't replace the BLNR. I will never be selling mine anyway so none of this really matters.

Maybe it's the Coke that will be coming out this year. At least this would remove some demand from the Pepsi and make both just a tad easier to obtain.

If you really want one it's probably better to buy it as soon as possible. Just look for the best price on a mint pre-owned. There are a couple under 11 grand out there.

If it really is discontinued they will not be sold for less than 13 used and even more new. The prices are already around there.

The thing is I started inquiring about it mid last year and I wanted it brand new from the AD. Card swiped with my ame on it and all. The model and colors have a meaning for me, not just night and day. Can i pay a couple more grand for it? Yes. Do i want to? No.

This is one thing I highly doubt.

For such an essential part of the Rolex collection, I could never imagine a plain SS black GMT not being part of the current catalog at any given time. I haven't been following Rolex behavior anywhere as long as others on this site, but I have a hard time believing there are precedents for getting rid of a standard SS Sub or GMT in black from the current offering.

Who knows what is actually going to happen (with all respect to the OP), but I agree with this logic - regardless of what happens to the BLNR, I can’t see them not offering an all black bezel version at all.

I agree with this. A black gmt has been in the Rolex product line for a VERY long time. I'd be shocked if one wasn't there.

Big technical achievement in producing the first bi-colour ceramic bezel. Huge demand for the watch and waiting lists full despite being in production for a few years. It’s clearly a model that drives interest in the brand, if the number of new posters who enquire about the watch on here are any guide. Rolex will surely simply upgrade the movement in the BLNR and otherwise leave it alone. Surely? Or am I missing something?

In my opinion - yes you do miss the point that Rolex is selling as many they want and not as many they can!

Rolex is Rolex and Rolex is Rolex! They can do whatever they want and all waiting list will be full (of SS sport models)!

I really like this behavior of the company! To be successful you don`t have to be greedy - you have to be unique! And Rolex is!

My thoughts, exactly. I don’t have any in with Rolex but can’t imagine discontinuing a model that’s been on fire for 6 years now. I’m missing the same thing you are. I don’t get that reasoning, save that it seems to pop up every year during pre Basel speculation.

It's very possible. If that's the case people will now be putting aftermarket Coke bezels on black GMTs instead of Pepsi bezels this time. Just be careful! It sucks that these were just 6-7 grand watches 24/7 until not so long ago.

Everyone wanted the new stuff until they released getting a new BLRO would not be easy.
