My favorite new Rolex is an AP

Not gonna lie guys. This bananas market has made other brands very appealing. And the blue Royal Oak has exceeded all expectations. Now my daily. Where are you spending your money if not Rolex ? Cars, other watches, your Roth IRA..etc. :)

I wouldn't exactly call a blue Royal Oak free from the "bananas market", but yes, that's a very beautiful watch.

Congrats! Hope to own it one day

Beautiful. Have had similar thoughts and considered going AP. When you start looking elsewhere you realize what a steal some Rolex SS at MSRP lol. Holding off on purchase, putting money away for vacation beach house. Once that’s closed on, will look at watches again.

What a beauty and congrats. The APRO is a stunner, and the bracelet is simply incredible.

You can get at retail within months tho. Not walk-in easy so you are right about that.

Can you really get the blue dial 15400 at retail within a few months? I don’t know, I’ve never purchased AP

not sure about that...the 15400 and 15500 blue both go for like 10k+ above retail currently. here in nyc you can't even get on a waitlist for a 15450 (any dial color)

This is a 15450st. Sounds like things are getting tougher for Aps for sure :(

The market in general is bananas! When Watchfinder is selling a 15400 (blue dial) for £27,500 and a BLNR/LV for £14,000 it's all monkey business!! People who have never shown an interest in watches are now desperate to get on the game as 'it's such a good investment" (in London anyway).

I'm not going to lie - I'm hoping for a brexit inspired crash so all these guys can go looking for 'investments' back to the stock or forex market and leave watches for those with a passion for the timepieces not the supposed 'investment.'

Well Brexit caused all this mess with the currency collapse and now if we leave with no deal, as seems likely, the currency will stay weak which will mean we are still cheap and thus very popular. If we remain then things could change but seems very unlikely now.

I'm not so sure the market isn't crazy when it comes to AP as well. Right now most of the professional models from Rolex, Royal Oak models from AP, and Nautilus/Aquanaut models from PP are grossly over-inflated on the secondary market.

Other than Rolex, I like VC and JLC. But if I could find a nice 15300 I would certainly jump on it. The 15400/500 are too large for me.

It looks nice but I should say it is not my cup of tea! As of me there are certain flaws.

it bugs me out how I love my 15400 dial more than the 15500, but whenever I see that movement, makes me change my mind a bit

I just do not get the whole AP thing. These watches look like something out of the 70's, and not in a good way. Look is way to retro and not timeless at all. I get that the finishing work is amazing but at the end of the day these are fashion baubles and I can see them being worth next to nothing at some point as they are so different.
