How much money do the Mods make from us?
How much money do you guys think these mods on the forum makes from us through these 'donations'? I just donated last week and now I'm hearing I will have to donate again in a couple days if I want to keep my "Pledge" badge.

They are unpaid volunteers.
The pledges are annual - the funds go into keeping the forum running. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Moderators are not paid, simple as that. We “make” nothing from your donations.

At least $1Billion/mod. A pledge is only $30. No one made the rules with the hopes of someday defrauding you the price 2-3 martinis.

I never gave this any thought. I am thinking they are dedicated watch collectors who do the work out of passion and commitment. Volunteers. Then again, I imagine it must be an immense work load. Either way, glad to have them.

Correct on both counts, it is an immense workload and unpaid.

I messaged Steve the ‘facilitator’ about donating money, only to keep my Pledge badge for only a week seemed a little unfair since he will be resetting it in a couple days. I was given quite an unexpected and rude response from him asking me if I knew what a donation meant? I paid my own money to help support this forum and this is the type of response I get? Ridiculous.

That's fine. I could have waited. No big deal, just a badge. But the rude and disrespectful response from Moderator is what prompted me to create this post

The moderator you speak of owns the forum, it is because of him that this forum even exists. What’s rude and disrespectful is you posting a screenshot of a PRIVATE message.

Mods work for free, using up a lot of their free time to keep this place honest, pleasant and civil.

Whatever, if you're all just going to gang up then just delete this thread. I couldn't care less anymore.

Uh oh, I don't see this ending well. As has been explained to you, the pledge period is on the calendar year. You are not the first person to miss that when making a pledge late in the year. Or the first to complain about it later. But you are just digging a hole for yourself here. Best to move on.

It's not everyday I can witness a ban on the exact moment it happens. It's sad and nice at the same time.

You don't have to pay for visiting here, all kind of donations is is not something you have to do. So what this money is used for is
unimportant IMHO. Getting a large, well-functioning forum costs money and those who ask a question like this of course have no idea what this means. As simple as mathematics is, if you have problems with this, you donate nothing and move on.

All moderation is done on our own time, without numerations, and simply for the enjoyment of the hobby. Nothing more..
These yearly memberships do have an expiry, of which is clearly noted in the first post of the relevant thread. There should be no confusion if actually read BEFORE committing your payment. These memberships go towards the cost of running the site. Figure that with the size of the forum, the server needed to carry it, and the backup of such. It isn't an insignificant amount... We all benefit from this, and appreciate it immensely. This forum is essentially carried by it's members. Unfortunately this member, now removed, just doesn't get it. A shame really. But calling it a money making scheme, and the owner rude, is entirely false.
