Ap 15500 black or grey???

ive been waiting for some time now for my ad to call me for the blue dial but ive come to terms that is not happening so figured im just going to go grey market and not get the blue dial because of the high prem blue dial so need some help deciding what color either the black dial or grey dial also wich do you think will hold its value better due to the premium im probably going to pay..thanks

I think it comes down to whichever aesthetic you prefer. I have no reason to think value retention would differ between a black or gray dialed 15500.

Ap 15500 black or grey???

Definitely should be the one you prefer and not what someone here does, you will generally get a close 50/50 split anyways I think. Both are also about same price grey. Good luck!

The secondary market price has rocketed for every color on the 15500/15450. If you’re going to pay the premium be sure to get the one you want. I personally think the gray/anthracite dial is gorgeous.

If you wanted the blue dial because you preferred the blue dial then you should just suck it up and pay the extra premium. You'll never be satisfied and you'll wish you'd spend the extra money for what you truly wanted.

However, if you only wanted the blue dial because it had a higher resale or for some other reason then I recommend the Grey. Having seen all of them in person the Grey is my second favorite.

For what it's worth, I was in the exact same predicament, word for word, as you about 9 months back and I chose black dial and haven't looked back since!

Easy decision for me. Black

The watch isn’t small and the dial being less cluttered, the gray doesn’t make a good contrast to the steel bracelet. Makes the watch look even bigger.

I do think the gray dial is nicer, but on the wrist, the black is just classy and the right contrast aesthetically.

I’ve always found the grey dial to be too similar to the bracelet colour and therefore blend in so personal preference is the black. If you’re going grey then see if you can try both on and you’ll soon know!

When there is a real option not to take black then I ususally do, as over half the watches I have ever owned have had black dials.

Really depends on what else is in your collection. I have a number of black dial watches so for me the grey dial is really something different. I also find it very complementary to the piece itself. Fingers crossed as I have my name down for a grey dial.

Assuming you have black dial Rolex sports already, I’d lean gray for more diversity.

You can't ever go wrong with a black dial, it's a classic colour and versatile so works well with whatever you wear.

I’ve got black dials and the grey is different. Great colour and different, I’d choose grey. Apparently a lot of AP would choose grey out of the 4 dials.

Thread needs some pictures. I picked grey. I don't see any indication of a big difference in expected future value.

The grey is a unique color. I had the black and I very much enjoyed the contrast the dial brings to the case, hour batons and logo, which is subdued with the grey dial (see 1st photo which I took at the NY boutique). The 2nd and 3rd photos are of my watch. All the best in your decision.

Not to impressed with the blue dial for this watch. It's not as nice as the Rolex sunburst blue dial. The black dial for this watch just makes this watch such a bad ass, sleek, sharp watch. Nice to have first world problems.
