Hello everyone,

I'm new to Rolex Forums. I joined to the forum because I inherited a watch from my old man, who passed away almost two years now.

It is a Rolex Datejust with blue dial, but I don't know nothing else about it. I'm not able to get the bracelet out to check the serial number. It does not have any documentation nor had very much maintenance, maybe for more than 20 years (my dad did not use it very much, it was more an asset/treasure to him).
Can you help me to tell what kind of Datejust I have? Year period?

With the help of a friend who is a Rolex enthusiast, I have been reading a little about these watches, and found about this "matching all over patina" stuff. I always wondered that restored, it would look very nice. But now, looks like "properly-aged" watched are a trend now. It would be nice to have your opinion before I think on how to wear, maintain or restore it. My intention is to keep it, as I consider it as a hierloom, and use it sometimes.

Thank you, a lot. I'm kind of lost here.

Bienvenido!

No expert but I think this is a 1601 (and not the later 16014 which has a flat dial throughout). These are produced from late 1950’s to 1970’s. Cant say date without serial :)

I have actually seen a similar patina around the hour markers for sale by a reputable dealer in the last year if it means anything!
