How old were you when you had your first Rolex
I'm 25 and buying my very own first Rolex. My dad has a few that he says I can wear any time and I'm sure will want to pass on to me eventually, his Thunderbird, YG DD, Cellini...But I want to know when you bought your very first, or when your very first was "given" to you.

I bought my first one when I was 19 YOA. It was a third hand non-date Sub. My first new one was an Aik King that my wife bought me for fathers day a few years ago.

I was 39 and the watch was a new TT WF Turnograph.
I always loved fine watches but for years could only afford a tissot quartz which did a sterling job for me. Circumstances changed in a relatively short period when my company's fortunes finally changed. I must admit that I bought and flipped watches like a fool for the next two years, wasting a few pennies along the way. I am now a little more seasoned in the appreciation of fine watches and have set myself strict guidlines in the pursuit of my ideal watches. Still an enthusiast though ! I have been sorely tempted to make rash impulsive purchasing decisions, especially when the watch looks SOOOO good in the flesh.

I had to wait till I was 47! Would have been much earlier if my ex-wife hadn't waited so long before giving me the sack

I was 60 when I got my first one. Waited for college educations, graduate schools, and weddings before starting my journey. I now have seven Rolex, two Omega, Cartier, and a couple Breitlings, in addition to others.

I love the simplicity of the Airking! It was the first Rolex I considered buying. My heart turned toward the GMT, though.

Got my SS Date model in 1988 at 25. Sold it after a few years of ignoring it. Got my 2nd, a GMT II, at 43.

That is one sweet graduation present.
I am thinking of passing my Rolex's on to my nephews. They have both recently graduated. Only have 3 other nieces, so I would be setting the stage for them down the road

Ain't it, though? Although, after 8 years at university, I'm not sure if it was a graduation present or long-service award.

I still keep it and LOVE it. It was my first Rolex and a true classic; one day it will belong to my son.

I was 20 when my parents gave me my 5512. That was in December '65.
It's on the Orbita at the moment. Marshall Field & Co. was the AD. The faded sales slip reads $192.00.

1st rolex
I was nineteen i purchased a Steel Submariner off a friend who used to
work at Rolex , London. He also mdoified it for mee and put a blue bezel/ face (from the gold one) Rolex should offer this on the all steel sub as it did look great. it cost me £725 , the list price at athe time was £1019 It was subsequently stolen from a chap who used to service it for me around 3 years ago, keep an eye out if you can as this was a one off and would'nt mind it back. |
