Tried on my first 6 digit in a long while.
I tried on a Sub non date 114060 and it’s safe to say it’s confirmed my love for the 5 digits charm. I found the clasp a down grade with regards to the flow/design of the bracelet- it’s a very chunky block stuck on the bracelet, whereas the 5 digit clasp is part of the bracelet.
The 6 digit definitely looks more expensive with the ceramic and the extra bling. I was happy putting my 5 digit back on… I assumed I’d be wanting ‘an upgrade’ after trying one on. It has quite the opposite affect. |

Agreed … but … the 12 Series watches are a big improvement over the 11 Series watches, IMO. Fit, proportions, look. Try on one of those, and see what you think.

I think the clasp will arguably be worse on 12 series based on OP’s concerns, as the 12 series clasp is bulkier/wider.

I would concede that argument … but, in all honesty, I do not notice a different feel on the wrist between my 5 digit v. 11 series v. 12 series … other than the extra weight of the 11/12 v. the 5 digit.

I actually love the Glidelock and think it’s a huge win for the 6-digits, though i much prefer the svelte case design of the 5-digits. |

The clasp might be one of if not the best thing about the 6 digit subs. It houses the glide-lock which is definitely one of the best advancements by Rolex. People quarrel with the super-case 6 digit Subs is usually the larger lugs but glide-lock???

6 digit sub with the glide lock is a definite step up. The 5 digit and down feel chinsy in comparison.

I’ve got a five digit LV and a 41LV.
They each have their own appeal. It’s a matter of personal preference which characteristics win you over. I appreciate both and continue to maintain that they’re very different watches, despite their obvious similarities. Ultimately, you’re lucky that you’ve found your favourite. |

I’m just glad I’ve satisfied myself and don’t feel the need to get on the hunt now.

For me, in terms of design, lightness and comfort, the 5 digits are unrivalled.

I couldn’t go back to my older Sub. I really think the latest 12 series Sub is a modern masterpiece combining the lines of old with superior build quality. The glide lock is a game changer.

I went on the hunt and felt like i needed 6 digits.
I did manage to get a 126610LV and 124060, which are super well made, gorgeous in fact no doubt. Yet for some of us used to the 5 digits, the 6 digits are thicker, a bit bulkier and a bit less comfortable. Both are amazing of course and can't deny the improvements in the newer models. That being said, for me it's much more comfortable to wear any of my 5 digits and frankly, it's cooler to me..the new stuff just says I got the newest hottest model. All that being said, I love them both and lucky to have choices. I recently put my 16710 on Jubilee and got two more bezel choices..109 grams and just the best on the wrist. If I were starting out and younger, I'd probably go for the 6 digits as the pull would be for the newest and better clasps and so forth.

If there’s one thing you can never fail to notice on watch forums it’s people stating their version is the best. The argument rarely stands up when scrutinised and dissected, most of the time it’s just sour grapes as you don’t have the latest model.
I’m exactly that person and my 116610 and 114060 are without doubt the best Subs ever. |

Sour grapes is a little far fetched, seen as most of us have collections, not just one watch.
I’d say it’s all just down to personal opinion- which in most cases, it’s the watch that you own is your preference. If i preferred the 6 digit, I would have walked away with it. |

Glad the 5 digits work for you OP
IMHO the bracelet quality build is superior on the 6 digits, but with that said, it’s not like the 5 digits didn’t stand up to their intended use. I think that solid endlinks, sleeves, and milled clasps are better, but the difference in real world terms is often overstated The game changer for me is the glidelock … I couldn’t go back to a clasp that can’t be adjusted on the fly |

I had both, 14060 and 114060. After owning both together for over 2 years I traded the 5 digit for a new GO SeaQ Panorama. I loved the 14060 but it appreciated so much I had to do something with it as I couldn't consider it my travel "beater" watch anymore. When it came down to it I considered the 6 digit to be the superior piece as much more solid and, crucially, legible.

I'm lucky to now own both a 5 and 6 digit GMT and I've searched for the answer to which is better for years - I can't choose a clear winner. I actually don't think they wear THAT much different. Both have their own personalities and I love them equally! :)

The best bracelet/clasp is the brushed Oyster accompanying the OP series, especially with the easy link... just plain perfection

Is the stamped pattern on the 5-digit clasps really that impressive? I understand if you don’t find the 6-digit clasp attractive, but to call it a “downgrade” is quite strange and simply untrue. |

He said downgrade with regards to flow / design. I don’t think anybody would argue that it is not technically a better clasp, but it is definitely blocky / bulky which isn’t to everyone’s tastes.

As above - definitely not disputing the functionality improvement. Just the design flow isn’t as nice as the 5 digit.

Precisely, which is why I made reference to the stamped pattern on the clasp. To me it just looks like a poor attempt to camouflage the clasp. *not my picture below* Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I agree with the OP, none of the 6 digits I owned (Except the new explorer) sat very well on my wrist (which is on the smaller side). I have gotten rid of my all my 6 digits. Not a fan of the fit or how blingy they look. Too much like jewelry for my personal taste. I want to connect with a 6 digit, because I do love the bracelets, but just can’t.
