Any love for the Tudor BB P01?

Popped into a Tudor AD today and saw the Black Bay P01. I have to say rather unique in design although a somewhat cumbersome bezel lock mechanism. It’s 42mm and kinda wears ok on my 7” wrist.

Doing a little search on TRF, I don’t see anyone referencing this model and am wondering if it’s too radical out there for Tudor fans?

Personally not a fan of the “Seiko gas mask” look, but just my opinion.

My wrist is too small for this watch. Overall, it is an interesting design but it is for someone who is quirky. I recently saw a photo of someone on the forums with it on a nato. They had the bezel mechanism taken off. It looked much nicer on the strap. Hopefully they see this and repost.

I think it’s a great piece but much too large for my minute wrists. The lugs are long and probably fit 8 in circumference wrist just barely

I tried. Interesting design. Lug to lug is humongous. Could not wear it. If it works for you though that's a unique watch to wear in a sea of subs and blackbays.

I saw some different mods with a bracelet on it which makes it look somewhat better (where the extension to the lugs look more like part of the bracelet).

The other I tried was the BB58 925 - been trying to find pix of that to see how it looks like worn tarnished. That’s another nice looking watch.

The BB58 925 is an amazing watch. I recently watched the video below. The patina on the watch is awesome.

I like the P01. I don’t care for Tudor’s snow flake hand, but I’d tolerate it on the P01.

Really like the quirkiness of the P01. Felt very comfortable during a test drive while in Maui. It would be cool to have one but don't see it in my future.

I really like 12-hour timezone bezels, but don't see the need for one on a dive watch, nor for such an over-engineered way of locking it.

It may be WR to 200m, but it’s most certainly not marketed as a diver, not with a leather strap as standard. Seems like more of a travel/adventure watch, which is best reason I can see for the crown at 4:00 (not banging it). Maybe it has become superfluous with the BB Pro but previously was meant to track two time zones without a 24hr hand.

I tried on the PO1 a couple of years ago. The size was just fine, on my wrist at least. I like it... I know there are a lot of people who comment that it's ugly, but that's just a matter of opinion... but then, I like the new VTNR, so what do I know?

I have the 925, and absolutely love it. Mine hasn't developed much patina, but that's fine with me. With or without the patina, it's a beautiful watch.

I do find the .925 silver BB58 intriguing.

That would be me.

The springbar holes sit far too close to the case for it to be practical to permanently remove the locks. It just looks very wrong on the wrist.

Is that another hole toward the edge tip/end of the lug. What is that for?

It is, but it's only on the 12 O'clock lugs. It's to retain the non functional clamp.

The 6 O'clock funtional clamp doesn't have them as it needs to open and close.

I own one and think it is a quirky, well made watch that will turn up at some point in the future as just that. It will be discontinued in a few years and then it's popularity will sore.

It’s pretty cool. I put mine on a green silicone strap and it’s vastly better. It’s huge. It’s weird. It’s also quite comfortable and that’s one of the best dials Tudor makes. Would be hard/impossible as an only but as part of a collection it’s good.

I loved it when I first saw the pictures, so put my name down for one immediately. I tend to like quirky "ugly" watches at times - I have a Ploprof which I absolutely adore - so I thought the P01 would be a must have for me.

However when it tried it on I really didn't like it. The size was fine, but there were a number of reasons I turned it down, one of which was that I found the locking mechanism just felt cheap, and it doesn't fit the case quite how it should IMO.

Interesting piece, but ultimately it wasn't for me.

For me the P01 is an odd ball watch; now that's not all bad but most of that ilk don't get near the respect they deserve. I no longer go after them.

I've been looking at those as well. I don't think I could live with the tarnishing. I just looked at one in the metal on Saturday.
