Fun AD visit (Tudor contents)

My wonderful AD called last week to ask when I could drop by as they had a little present for me.
So after office this afternoon, I decided to pay them a visit...

We spent quite a while discussing last month's Tudor event with the store manager. And had the chance to try on and exchange views on the new Pelagos 39.

Right off the bat, I can say this is a very beautiful timepiece. The unflattering lighting does not do it justice as the phone camera falls short in capturing the eye pleasing aesthetics.
I have nothing but positive thoughts about this watch and there are several subtle differences that set it apart from the larger 42mm siblings. Differences which serve to prove that Tudor listens to their audience.





-T-Fit clasp, fitted with a full and complete dive extension!
-larger and deeper straight knurling around the bezel, making it easier to grip and handle.
-larger and deeper straight knurling on the crown
-Sunray effect on the dial
-Sunray finish on the ceramic bezel insert
-Chunky, monobloc lume indices

The above are evidently becoming Tudor signature design cues.

On the wrist, the Pelagos 39 wears super comfortably while the bracelet doesn't seem to be a hair puller like the one of the 42 felt (at least to me). While smaller, the newest Pelagos doesn't feel as lightweight as I would expect but this is totally subjective. It's a plus in my book, if you ask me.

Apart from the Pelagos, I was fortunate enough to be allowed to try the BB Pro on the fabric strap.





Let me tell you the obvious up front: This is a thick watch. And one could argue that the smaller diameter, exacerbates the thickness issue. If anyone feels there is one, to begin with.
Because I think I can live with the tall case alright. It's thick but not slab-sided in the way of the standard 41 in house BBs'. Beveled lower case edges and a shallower rehaut do a great job reducing the perceived thickness. Had they maintained the top sides / lugs chamfer perhaps it could feel even slimmer. Not sure why they didn't... Anyway.
The 24 hour bezel is beautifully finished in satin radial brushing while the well known spacer between the case and crown is now absent. The crown, just like the one on the newest Pelagos bears deeper knurling and is a pleasure to handle.
What really catches the eye though, is the overall hue of the watch face. Coloring exudes a warm and nostalgic vibe. The monobloc lume indices are a very nice touch and while they have been intentionally colored they somehow manage to tread very lightly between contemporary and traditional while avoiding the fauxtina association.
Again, pictures do not do this watch justice either.
The fabric strap is the same fine quality of jacquard weaving with a small update on the buckle logo which I failed to capture and for which I sincerely apologize.

Lastly, here's the nice and thoughtful little gift they had for me. Reportedly one of the three David signed during last month's event...



And while I thought I couldn't be happier this afternoon, the cherry on top of the cake came in the form of my next purchase, which couldn't take place today but I now have my name down for a 126711 CHNR which can be mine by Easter or before next summer. NO rush, in anticipation I'll savor every moment of the wait. I'm in good company.

Wish you had got to try the BBP on the bracelet, as it makes the whole Watch feel a bit soother and settled on the wrist.

Haven't taken mine off since last week!

Good right up. The BlackBerry Pro on NATO makes a tall watch even taller. I have it on both a bracelet and the hybrid strap. Both are equally comfortable. It wears almost identical to my BB 58 perhaps even a little more comfortable on the bracelets. Which is quite surprising considering the Pros taller case. All about the balance.
