Expect the unexpected....

Anyone have a guess at what off the wall (within reason) change they will make this year? Something very few see coming, like the tt SD or lefty of years past.. This is not a post of the normal every year predictions (return of the coke) But odd stuff Rolex seems to do from time to time.

1. DD w/OF and fixed ceramic bezel
2. Thunderbird revival but w/matte ceramic insert (36 and 41)
3. New OF colors (possibly paired w/new ceramic bezel colors)
4. One variant of PM SkyD gets Jubilee bracelet instead of Oyster
5. GMT gets polished lugs (it's the only steel Rolex with brushed lugs and PCL)
5b. GMT gets its matte center links back
6. Titanium YM becomes a reality... but in RG TT variety
7. Blue DSSD replaced with dark green in same gradient pattern
8. OP line goes lacquer dial-only, but in standard colors (black, dark blue, white, etc.)
8b. OP line discontinues lacquer and replaces turquoise, candy, and green with sunburst
9. OP 34 gets TT option (no corresponding TT DJ, so hole in lineup)
10. Sub gets to 400m because, well, why not

Very much feel a new Daytona is coming out, new movement, slightly new case design, new dial options, for all metals.

Pea Green will be the new "must have" color. The traditional Sub LV and GMT BLNR will the discontinued immediately.

PV will be offered on the following models:
- Sub LPV
- GMT LPV
- Entire OP line (but only for six months - consult your AD for purchase)

(Pea Green = Pois Verts, thus Rolex appends "PV" to the new models)

Those buying outside the dealer network should expect prices 200-300% over MSRP. Forge a relationship with your local AD.

i can see gold subs on OF, and/or maybe a full gold GMT on a gold jubilee (similar to old school GMTs).

it makes me wonder why they release the new titanium DS separately, probably not to take away from other release so maybe we will see something big. possibly a new white GOLD GMT to replace the pepsi (in coke) and likely some new anniversary daytona, possibly in platinum or white gold only. i can also see them introducing daydates in multi colored dials (red, yellow, tiffany).

i would really like to see a rose gold blue dial daydate, daytona or sky dweller.

Every year people say they are disappointed, so I expect this year to be no different. Lefty GMT was a bold move for Rolex. Maybe another bold move on a model would be interesting. Lefty DD40? Titanium Sub?

DD is pretty much the last (relatively uncomplicated) model to get the lefty treatment. With the GMT, all Rolex had to do was flip the watch 180 degrees and print an "upside down" dial and date wheel. However, to do that with the DD, you'd end up with the day of the week at 6:00 instead of 12:00.

On the other hand, perhaps a lefty DJ becomes the excuse to reintroduce a solid gold version?

A disproportionate number of US presidents were lefties.

Oooh, yes please!

Also, let’s have a new mint green sunburst dial (like the DJ) in an OP41.

A smaller Daytona (I don't think so, but it's off the wall and I would really want one)

GMT to get sub case.
Possibly a titanium sub.
They will probably mess with the Daytona, I think they will keep the 40, but add a 42 version.

Can't see another GMT variation, they've done it to death over the last 5 years or so.

Expect the unexpected....

There are so many possibilities considering the long history of the brand. Things like bringing back a modern version of an older thing (like a jubilee root beer) or doing something kind of off the wall like a lefty GMT…or outright releasing a new model, as I think the SkyDweller was the most recent.

Aside from the obvious guesses for the anniversary stuff, I’ve given up speculating and just have my little wishlist of what I think would be cool.

Outside of that, I like to just sit back and wait to see what they’ll do, I get lost in the sea of possibilities.

Agreed. I think he even had 2 threads he got it perfectly correct on.

Don’t usually care to speculate as it would never be right. Everyone keeps going on about the Milgauss. I love the current iteration and sorta hope they don’t change it but if they do, a throwback to the 6541 would be cool with a different type bezel and waffle dial and indices at the quarters but retaining the lightning hand.

Wasn’t there chatter a couple years ago about Cellini line being replaced (or supplemented) by something called a Vienna? IIRC that was maybe a new dress chrono?

Other than that, maybe not unexpected, but it’d be great to see the 126711CHRN offered w/ jubliee.

And +1 for a reimagined Milgauss that is reminiscent of the 6541 - with 12 hour rotating bezel, tint to the crystal, lightening second hand, plus crown guards and fliplock clasp.
