What in gods name is this rolex?
"36mm Rolex Datejust Model 1625 with a solid gold thunderbird bezel on it. Serial number is a 1.8 million dating this vintage beauty to the 1960s era . The band has a florentine finish on it and is worn. Shows sag and is stretched . Full disclosure on that , will fit up to a 7.75 inch wrist"
Ok but really? |

Likely started out as this and then got taken to the “wood shed”.

I kinda like it. At least it's got vintage character, even if it's been worked on. Better than the new OP Bubbles anyway.

Haha Adam - good one. But it is ruggedly appealing.
I think it’s handcrafted and WoW a lot of hours invested in it. I bet in sunshine it sparkles in a good way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Oh, I'd definitely wear it. Imagine if it had '60s US military provenance, it would have its own YouTube episode. I can hear the Tim Mosso voiceover now.

I think that is probably the ugliest Rolex I have seen. It's an-anti Rolex watch, but I rather like it. Mind you, I'm not sure I'd have the courage to wear it.

John bull was an AD in the bahamas that was known for doing bark or even “orange skin”finish. They would do limited series of rolex with this, i think online you can still see a 5513 with a bark finish. Had the opportunity to speak to one of john bull’s watch makers years ago and he still had a few practice cases that just looked horrendous. No way of knowing forsure but this looks to be the case.

I was there in 2004 when the cruise ship passengers descended on the shop - from just me chatting to the manager, to 150 entering in the shop salivating like a flight of locusts in 2 mins....was terrifying tbh:-/

Here's an example of a John Bull from an Italian collector, seems different from the opener pics which looks more like a 47th Street "Special"...

I saw that listing just the other day. Really too bad. I think he’s at least $1,200 too high.
