Interesting 'opportunity' Milgauss 116400GV Z-Blue

So my SA at one of the ADs I frequent messaged me recently and offered me a brand new fully stickered Milgauss 116400GV Z-Blue that had been 'sitting' in their vault

I have always liked the reference especially the blue variant, love the general quirkiness but not enough to pull the trigger in the gray/used market, however given that this thing is brand new and the card would be dated Jan 2025 it definitely has me thinking....

Would have to take a 2 and half/3hr flight to pick up the piece and the retail price is around 12k$ which I think is about right given the country has a 25% luxury import tax. I believe in the US the watch was $9k plus before tax when it got discontinued....similar priced unworn 2022 variants go for about 12k as well but being directly from the AD plus newly dated would be all huge extras....

Anyways....seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on this one.....

I wouldn't hesitate but then again I would say that.

The Z Blue makes a refreshing change in my watch rotation.

It looks like a fun one. I’ve always preferred the GV

Good luck deciding

Get it. I highly recommend. I adore my Z-blue, it will never leave my collection. One of the most unique/beautiful watch dials in the entire watch world, not just Rolex.

I’d go for it. It’s such a refreshing change from the usual Rolex fare.

Has the quirky lightning style second hand and a glass that counterfeiters don’t even bother trying to reproduce because of the cost.

Although the white dial Milgauss is my favourite configuration.

Absolutely. The blue is by far the best color of the three offered. For the price you'd pay for an "NIB full set" on the grey market, have one that was "miraculously" found in the back of a vault. Go buy a scratch-off lotto ticket, too, maybe press your luck...AFTER you get your new Milgauss :D It's such a cool piece & I sometimes wish I would've pulled the trigger on one ~6yrs ago when the C24 prices were like half of what they are now.

That is absolutely lovely. I'm a big fan of the Milgauss and that is a particularly nice colour scheme.

25% is nuts... It is 19% in my neck of the woods and I thought that was excessive...

When you factor in the 25% plus whatever expenses you'll incur traveling, you'll be in way too much money for this watch.

If you LOVE it and you MUST have it, go for it.... otherwise, no way.

Price wise the 12k USD takes into account all taxes and fees, flight will cost me another $400 approximately...biggest concern is that I already have a 16hr flight this weekend with a 22hr total travel time....Will I have the energy to hop on another flight the following weekend, not really sure

Great opportunity! A brand new, unworn Z-Blue Milgauss from the AD with a fresh warranty card is hard to pass up, especially at $12k considering the market value. If you’re a fan of the model and can make the trip, it seems like a solid move!

Wow, definitely a great opportunity. The Z-Blue is quite the stunner. It's not every day you run into a NOS example like this! If you really like it and have the energy for the flight, I say go for it. I have a feeling that you might regret it later on if you decided to pass.

Maybe stupid question but can’t they just ship it to you? IMO 25% over retail for a model that did not get a lot of love when available is too much. But then again I have never understood paying over retail for a Rolex. I think you may be overestimating the value of new old stock on this model / having a current warranty card. Just my 2 cents. If it was available down the street from you at MSRP from an AD, I would say sure, grab it if you really like it.

It’s a cool piece that I’ve considered (love the blue and orange combo), but held back due to thickness (faraday cage) and the amount of polished bits is too much for me. YMMV.

If you have to ask, then you are not worthy. The Milgauss isn’t for everyone, and so it seems that it probably isn’t for you.

In direct sunlight the Z-Blue is very likely the most beautiful watch ever made.

There is nothing remotely like it.

Do it! Super beautiful watch IMO! If I had one more slot in the watch box I would still have mine. Every time I see one I miss it quite a bit.

Great watch. Not worth all the effort and cost. Just buy a used one for cheaper and get it shipped to your house if you want one. Even if it's new old stock it's still old. There's plenty of new old stock for sale online as well for cheaper.

I'm hoping they re-release this exact design just with a new case, bracelet, and lighter weight anti-magnetic function.

Z Blue with 2025 card would make it rare. That's how it works with Rolex. small things like different serial numbers on two identical watches or different font on the number one on a a Seadweller may make a big difference 10 years from now.

Go for it, sharp, I don’t know why it was taken out of the catalog? I would if presented with the opportunity.

Cheers,
