Classifieds Idea... probably not the first

If this is against TRF Guidelines or has been beat to death, forgive me and take it down....

I wish there was a classified section specifically for Dealers. There are SO MANY DEALERS posts in the classifieds, that it is hard to sort through... it feels like it’s 5:1. I actually was beginning to think that was all who used this forum until I joined the discussion section here.

I don’t know how others feel, but I personally am on here for collector to collector deals. I’m not interested in paying a premium for a “one year warranty”. I have my own watch maker who services my pieces.

I love this forum and the services the administration provides. I am GRATEFUL, but wondered if this idea had been discussed?

If so, please disregard and bury this thread :)

Word I second this! The Omega forums have something similar where it splits between private and dealer sales and is quite helpful to do it that way.

Use the search or try watchrecon which shows pictures as well.

Dealer/commercial FS adverts are not permitted, according to the rules in the sticky. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=9423 (fourth paragraph).

Try reporting offending threads.

Maybe it’s time to modify the rules. I mean really? A separate section for dealers and known greys vs those of us who occasionally sell one of our beloved watches is a rule issue? I fail to see how something separated changes what occurs every day in a mixed for sale forum.

I didn't make the rules, but I can read them plain as day on the sticky in the FS forum. The rule was raised to address some past issue (sticky is from 2006). Whether that issue still needs to be addressed via this rule is a question for the Admin (LOL-X).

But it does seem that the FS forum is mostly dealers these days. Maybe a "Private Seller" subforum would be helpful to slice out the small number of adverts that are just occasional sellers.

Well... reported 2 of them and got 6 points for it

Doesn’t seem like something our fearless leaders see as an issue, so I’ll drop it and be thankful for the forum :)

I hear you but makes it all the more fun when you find a good deal from a party you can trust.

This was a fun read, thanks.

It started well. Abdullah took it down a winding road with his "clear" interpretation and someone pissed Steve off.

For the record, the rule relates to the time when the FSoT section was open to all posts. Dealers (or members acting on their behalf) would spam their services/products within the posts on a thread.

If the rules forbade dealers submitting sales threads we'd have said that.

Got it! So were they constantly bumping their posts?

Being new here, I’m learning the ropes. Have just been surprised by the amount of new, retail priced pieces being advertised, and so many of them are not hot models.

I’m one who loves to shop forums for vintage and preowned, so I may be the minority on this.
