Project: Which box belongs to which model....?
Hi friends,
Just a few months ago I realised that I have some watches and not the appropriate boxes. From reading many posts here I saw that there might be the interest to get an overview which box reference belongs to which model. Said this it is not that easy and time consuming whilst knowing that many AD´s just give and gave out watches with boxes they have in stock. I thought about it and started from another point Just builded 3 cluster (watch reference / date of purchase and box reference) and put it into a sheet. Attached you find the output and there might be the interest to complete that further Watch Reference Date Of Purchase Box Ref 1603 xx/1979 10.00.01 1655 Jul-79 06.00.06 1680 May-70 67.00.3 Rolex Argentina 6263 Aug-82 06.00.06 6694 xx/1971 06.00.06 6694 Mar-87 10.00.01 4112 Oct-83 49.00.08 14060M Jul-03 68.00.01 14060M Sep-05 30.00.71 14060M Dec-05 30.00.04 14060M Nov-06 30.00.01 14270 Jun-99 68.00.71 15210 Sep-01 68.00.55 16014 Jan-80 10.00.1 16014 Jul-86 68.00.02 16030 Jun-82 11.00.71 16030 Oct-84 10.00.01 16200 Nov-05 30.00.01 16220 Oct-96 11.00.01 16220 Jun-99 68.00.71 16220 Aug-06 30.00.01 16234 Apr-05 68.00.08 16520 1993 68.00.01 16523 Jun-93 69.00.09 16570 Jun-01 68.00.55 16570 Jan-04 64.00.01 168000 Jul-88 67.00.03 16600 1992 68.00.01 16600 Aug-96 68.00.01 16600 Jul-99 68.00.71 16600 Nov-99 68.00.55 (Rolex U.S.A) 16600 Sep-04 64.00.02 16600 Mar-05 31.00.04 16600 Feb-06 31.00.64 16610 Dec-89 67.00.08 16610 Sep-04 64.00.01 16610 Oct-90 11.00.01 16610 Dec-05 30.00.71 16610LV Apr-04 64.00.02 16610LV Nov-06 30.00.71 16610LV May-07 30.00.01 16613 Oct-91 68.00.55 16613 1992 11.00.01 16613 May-03 64.00.01 16700 Apr-98 68.00.71 16700 Jul-98 68.00.08 16710 Oct-01 68.00.01 16710 Jul-03 68.00.01 16710 Oct-03 64.00.01 16710 Jan-04 64.00.02 16710 Dec-05 30.00.02 16710 Jun-06 30.00.71 16710 Dec-06 30.00.01 18038 Aug-82 71.00.04 18238 ??? 81.00.71 17000 Jul-83 68.00.2 114270 xx/2001 68.00.01 114270 Mar-02 68.00.71 114270 Sep-05 30.00.08 114270 Mar-06 30.00.71 114270 Sep-06 30.00.01 116261 Sep-05 69.00.09 116520 Mar-02 64.00.01 116520 Jul-02 68.00.71 116520 Aug-02 64.00.02 116520 Nov-04 31.00.64 116520 Jul-06 30.00.04 116520 Dec-06 30.00.71 116710 Oct-07 31.00.64 118208 2001 81.00.09 68273 xx/xxxx 68.00.08 69174 Jul-04 14.00.71 77080 May-06 30.00.71 |

My 168000 when originally bought came with a 68.00.55 box which is incorrect according to the info above. Is this a commonplace occurance with AD's in the past?

Hi, I'm a new user in this forum. I have been doing a lot of research here and it seems like a really nice place. I inherited a 1655 from '72 from my grandfather, unfortunately without box or papers. Now I'm looking for a box that would match it. However, it seems that that the connection between box and watch is rather blurry. So far I have info that 68.00.2, 68.00.3 (and as listed above 06.00.06) would fit a 1655 from the 70's, as well as 11.00.2 (which I think might be for the 80's(?)). Could anyone verify this information or tell me what the connection is and which box I should look for to be sure about originality?
Thanks a lot. Kasper |

Are we talking about the green box?
Because it seems you get whatever box your AD feels like giving you. The watches and boxes are shipped to an AD separately, without a particular watch in mind. For example, each of my 2 SS Daytona's were presented in different size boxes, as all Rolex does is ship each watch in a BIG shipment with a couple of dozen watches like this... |

Thank you.
Now the right question as to Box # can be asked of seller's, "who tho sometimes thru no fault of their own", are getting in most cases good money for a box they're selling that is not appropriate for the buyer's ROLEX timepiece. |

Many thanks for such a useful reference source. Taking my own watch as an example (4112 Cellini) the box number on the list is 49.00.08 whilst my actual box number is 49.00.71. Does that mean that I have the wrong box or merely that the last two digits in the Box number vary over time? My watch is a 1995 build.
What does "Date" refer to - is it the date the particular model commenced? (the "Date" listed for mine is "ott - 83" Thanks, Rocky. |

Hello,
I don't think that box is remained the same after 12 years. Unfortunately I have no other Cellini Box References.

Looking at the different boxes that the various watches have been identified with on the various lists............ there is very little evidence to indicate that any specific box goes with any specific watch model... only generalities..

This table appears a lot incomplete. I conseil to you to see here
http://www.rolexephemera.com/daytona-Boxes.htm Perhaps you will not find the right box, but you can go near it.

Danely, the number on my box is on the trailing edge of the bottom of the box. It also says " Montres Rolex S.A. - Geneve Suisse " with the Rolex crown at either end of that line of print and the serial number of the box below that line.

Right watch, wrong box?
Thanks for the work. My wifes TTDJ M serial came in the "correct" box. However both my V serial SS GMTIIc and my D serial TTDJ came in 31 00 04 box. All were purchased from an AD.
