Incoming ... Montblanc

The other day the seller advertised 3 of my grail pens in within 2 hours.
I decided to pull trigger on 2 of them.

Montblanc Marcel Proust FP (M nib), 1999 Writers' Edition.











Montblanc Prince Regent FP (M nib), 1995 Patron of the Art's Edition.

Yes I'm feeling better but still have to goto hospital for another couple of times, they couldn't get rid of the kidney stone yesterday.

My count is still around 40. Richard got 80/90 pieces :-)

Sorry Kai, I did confuse your collection with Richard's. Once you're up in the several dozens, it's hard to keep everything straight.

Wouldn't you think that MB would have created a box as majestic as this pen??? Kinda the Rolex box syndrome methinks!

I really like the design of the Proust and the way the cap screws onto the end of the pen when writing. I don't know if it balances the pen, but just the concept of the cap screwing on seems a lot more engineeringly refined.

Kind of like the screw in crown on a watch as opposed to just a push in crown

The Thomas Mann Writer's Edition is a spectacular instrument and is well constructed. On Saturday at the Fountain Pen Hospital Pen Expo I was testing this beauty out and with a single motion I flung the cap across the room (by accident of course), it bounced off a things before finally hitting the floor. The sound of the cap hitting the floor was so pronounced, I was frozen in embarrassment, as the silence was among us I just blurted out "I Break I Buy".... LoL ... To my surprise when I picked up the cap, there wasn't a scratch, ding or dent on it!! It was in pristine condition! Thank goodness since it is $600+

I saw the Thomas Mann in one of my watch magazines down here in Mexico, and did a little research on it...it's out of my league, but it is an incredible pen.

That Prince Regent is out of this world, though. The blue & gold contrast is stunning!

Kai, you bought some very beautiful pens and please use in good health.....all the pictures posted of some gorgeous pens(by all of you on many threads) only makes me want them more. Of course I do not need any of them but they are definitely on my X-mas wish list!!!

INCREDIBLE
I open this thread and see a Prince Regent - one of my favorite Montblancs. The blue and gold go SO well together, huge congrats.

Then I click on page two and find the "Yes we can" edition of 149 (I believe?). Also LOVE IT.

I know it is very hard to find, so congratulations a bunch dude!

Note that this pen is not an official Montblanc product signed off by MB Germany. It was the initiative of the local MB USA branch, so there is no special box/packaging, the only thing they did was to engrave the slogan into the cap with the date, and accompanying a letter saying this pen is part of the commemoration.
Also, President Obama doesn't use MB pens as he signs with a Cross Townsend. A fair few people has questioned about MB's riding on Obama's coattails.

Anyway, let's see how this one goes in future. I still got several of the first day stamp covers of the Diana and Prince Charles wedding. I'm sure their values have not shot up.

As for whether I use them or not, well, all of them are inked and in the rotation. When you got a few pens, putting them into rotational use will not wear them down.

(p.s. To sunburst, nice Hendrix strat. I have a '68 Reverse' myself, after the Voodoo name licence expired. Unfortunately my playing does it no justice!)
