Icon20 everose vs yellow gold...day date ii vs daytona

Happy 2010 to all. I am new to this forum....I was surfing the web bc I have a big decision to make. I am debating on which watch to get...day date ii w/ diamonds or daytona. I am pretty sure that I am set on getting everose in either....although after reading some of the threads I am having some minor second thoughts and am considering the yellow gold. I know that it is like comparing apples to oranges but what can I say...I love fruit?

I thought that I had my mind made up with the day date ii (diamonds) but I recently saw a everose daytona with a black face (gold dials) and it was beautiful....I also saw the yellow gold daytona with black face and it was equally as beautiful.

I currently have a datejust with diamonds (ss), a submariner (black), big face omega seamaster and a Hublot big bang (41mm)...this will be my first all gold watch and am very excited. I guess I just want to hear some feedback to make my decision easier. I am glad I found this forum!

This is the perfect look for the DDII. Forget the diamonds, all they do on a man's watch is add to the pimp factor and the dealer's price, IMO. They do absolutely nothing at resale time, assuming that ever happens. They cheapen the look and make it look phony. This look is eye-catching yet still simple elegance. You wouldn't want diamonds on your Daytona, would you ? Rose gold most definitely.

I think the black dial rose gold Daytona looks 100x better than the yellow gold black dial Daytona. But deciding between the pres with diamonds vs the Daytona, man that is a tough decision. All depends on what looks better on _your_ wrist. But either way, I'd go with rose gold.

I love the RG Daytona however my concern is there's a lot of Fossil watches that have the similar copper color. With YG there's no mistake or doubt.

Those are two very different watches with two very different looks. Are you buying it to fit certain look other than "gold?" I am a huge rose gold fan so for me the choice between yellow and rose is a non issue. As for the watch choice I would say go for what feels best to you, surely one will sing out louder when you try them on. I have seen a different RG daytona from the one posted above (different subdials) and I thought the watch was outstanding.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I also love rose gold. I was popular many years ago and then went out of fashion. Over the past 10 years or so, it has made a comeback, but it is quite possible that it may go out of style again.

I am a bit on the conservative side, so I am just giving you my personal opinion.

I think that an all rose gold watch is a too overpowering. I feel that a rose gold watch needs a different color face or perhaps even a strap rather than a matching bracelet.

My Breguet Transatlantique is rose gold, but it is a strap watch with a black face and rose gold markers. Black and rose gold are a great combination. I have posted a picture of it below, but it is difficult to tell it is RG not YG.

Last year, I was considering purchasing a DD II and tried on all of the watches you are considering, except without any diamonds.

I felt that the all RG DDII was way overpowering. I liked the RG Daytona with the black face and thought it looked much better than the DD II. However, with the RG bracelet, I felt it was still a bit too much RG. I also tried on the YG Daytona with the black face and YG sub dials. I personally feel that watch represents the classic gold Daytona. It is the one that made me smile the most.

However, since I already own a TT Daytona, I could not justify buying another Daytona.

Most important of all - take our opinions for what they are - just opinions of others. The watches you are considering are expensive and you will lose quite a lot of money if you buy one and are unhappy and decide to sell it.

Take your time to decide and buy the one that make you smile the most.

That's a beautiful Transatlantique; one of my favorite watches. Maybe I'll own one someday!

Yellow Gold. It is the iconic color of that precious metal. Rose Gold will go in and out of style, white gold is often mistaken for stainless steel in a watch, 14k gold of any color looks cheap after a while, but the Rolex 18K Yellow Gold is always eye-catching, always a statement, and always, always in style.
