Cheap Thrills

Xezo [pronounced, ze zo] Air Commando GMT Limited to 500 from a small design company in Sugerland, Texas. From their website [They are technically a "Private Label" and have the watches they design made for them by an "Assemblage" firm in Switzerland]. 43mm, w/ 2 rotating bezels, sapphire crystal w/ AR coating, sapphire display back, 22mm, very robust solid link oyster-esque bracelet make this a real solid package. The hands and large Arabic numbers are not my first pic but they are very easy to read. I'd compare this with Hamilton or Oris in quality, but if found used can be snagged for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. Reminds me of the SAR, lots of value for the buck and built tough as nails.

And a cyclops to boot!!!!!

Thanks. Picked this up on WUS for $360. Worth 3 times the price. A member on WUS has a silver dial version for sale now, I think.
They might still be available online. A google search should get you there.

Very interesting, Dan. So...this was the "beater" package you were expecting yesterday!

You will have to let us know how the watch performs over the long term. I like my SEIKO Black Monster as a good "beater" watch, but it really needs to be adjusted - it runs WAAAAY too fast as a general rule.

Good catch, my friend.

Thanks, Allan.
Yes it is. I was looking for another beater with 2nd timezone capabilities. This will do that as well as provide a simple chrono function using the inside bezel to time hours and outside bezel to time minutes. Great for timing drives I do for work.
The 24 hour hand can be adjusted separately from the 12 hour, opposite of the Rolex GMT and not quite as easy to use as I prefer the 12 hour hand to be set on local time. Small complaint considering.
I'm amazed at the quality and overall heft. More detailed pics to come.

Thanks. The Xezo insert is slightly thinner, not engraved, but does look similar. BTW, the bezel ratchets with a commanding snap.

Hey Dan! Did you consider the silver-dialed model at all? That one looks pretty good as well.

Allan, didn't realize there was a silver dial model till after I found this. Although I love silver dials and haven't seen one in person, I think the black works best on this watch. But I'm wiling to change my mind.

Dan, it looks as you've found a gem while I've been busy in the pen forum.

A little busy for me....
You turned me into a Marathon JUNKIE for my beaters.

I do like the inner rotating bezel on your newbie though.

I bet it wont take the beating of our Marathons though.
Just got my SAR-D yesterday and am wearing it on a Orange rubber
martac band

I gave away my Seiko Black Monster.... The watch was just a major let down, I could not take the non hacking movement and inability to wind at the crown. My future brother in law LOVES IT.
