Picture Posting Question

.............after all these years
My pics are large format but show up smaller than others. Is there a way or an adjustment here on TRF for me to make them appear a bit larger on the threads? An example is the "Your best Rolex Pictures" thread.
Thanks in advance,
dP

I've noticed that too pal.

The pre-set for attachments seems to be 800x600 but if your picture is large for some reason the software shrinks it down below the pre-setting.

Try to reduce your large picture to about 1100x 900 before attaching and they usually show up as 800x600.

Edit: I went back to look at your pic's Dan and they are all in the correct size?

If you mean the other larger pictures in that thread it's because they're not attachments.

Dan, best thing to do is store them somewhere online, many free placed. Then, just link it!

Absolutely 100% Greg, attached pictures are restricted in size, if you use something like photbucket or some sort of external hosting you get the full size when you link to the pics :-)

Just a quick PS, external hosting also saves on the data storage for TRF less costs for Steve

I find it very convinient to use the attachment feature.

Sure they don't come out as big as Jockes picture above, (4000x3000) but you also don't have to scroll sideways for a 1/4 mile to see it.

When you use the use the attachment feature, you must log in to see the pics.

I guess my pics are a pain on a 14" monitor Leo, you have to get a modern one.

Exactly. I can never see the whole pic on my laptop.

I've done that but it's a PITA compared to downloading from my computer and the results are the same.

Here's an example of Leo's suggestion. Let's see how it turns out.
First pic is the normal size, second it shrunk to Leo's specs.
No difference.

They are both 800x600 Dan which is the maximum allowed size.

The best is to host your pics on a own server and link to them there. Then there will be no limits about the site.
Some picure hosting sites reduce the pics and some forum software do the same.

Here is how it can looks in orginal size from my server.

Go to Photobucket.com or any other photo sharing site then:

1. Register a free account with them. Don't bother entering your cell phone number if they ask for that.

2. Go back to the PhotoBucket home page and click the button that says upload.

3. Click the browse button to browse for the image on your computer then upload it.

4. Look in the lower left hand corner, a thumbnail of your image should be there with a box labled IMG. Copy this code and paste it directly into your post here on this forum.

Alternate Method

If you have a URL like this that ends with .jpg:
http://www.example.com/somepic.jpg

Then you add it to your discussion like this so it shows up as a photo:

[?IMG]http://www.example.com/somepic.jpg[/?IMG] Just eliminate the "?" Marks.

Some day I may need a favor from you Bro.

When I download a 1171 x 790 pic to PB it automatically changes it to 799 x 509 and I can't figure out why or how to keep it the original size.
