I felt a little sad when I read it had an A296 movement, just like my Explorer has, except for the date. I wonder what vintage he sacraficed for that?

Richard you are correct about the workmanship it is great.

Someone, with to much time on their hands takes lock's from the 1700's and does something like that watch to reveal the working parts of the lock. It is true art.

I think it's kind of cool. Part of it depends on how expensive or collectible the original vintage watch was. I've seen bubblebacks for a few thousand $$ that have had refinished dials, etc. (so hard-core collectors wouldn't be that interested) so it wouldn't kill me if something did a modification like this to something that was on the low end of Rolex prices.
