Why the hell am I laughing on the outside, when I'm screaming on the inside?
I must be mad!!
Sorry, guys.......just need to vent a little.......and it's mainly with my health, something I'm so damn particular about. First my stupid EYE!!! Next appointment is on the 17th of Feb. for poke No. 2 No, no............it's not the poke in the eye I'm worried about at all - that I can take..........it's the wonderment of how effective all this treatment is going to be and whether I can finally have a normal right eye to look out from? And then my bloody teeth. Last week, whilst eating, I bit down so hard on the fork, that I snapped my front incisor. Now, I've had an implant put in and another on the right side to reinforce the front teeth from both sides. As you guys may have guessed from my broad smiles , I wear dentures on top and bottom...............so I'm looking at around NZ$4K for the dental treatment alone!! But wait, there's more!! The CV ball joints on both front wheels of my beloved MAZDA are well and truly stuffed and need replacing. Yes, there's that familiar taka-taka-taka noise when making turns...............so some more expense along the way. So why the hell am I laughing on TRF? I am positively mad!! Cheers - JJ

A new top denture with implant retention (you have the implants in the areas formerly occupied by your eye-teeth, right ?) would run about $3k in my area of the US, so that sounds about right, though I'm not sure of the currency conversion.

Dental is not covered at all. The most you get on your dental is a lousy 100 bucks per annum even with insurance!!

JJ - these will seem like small bumps on the road in 12 months... Despite being incredibly goofy-looking you're healthy and have a wonderful, beautiful family surrounding you. What more can you ask for?

Cheer up JJ...I'm sure the whole eye thing will be in good order shortly...probably few more pokes will bring forth much needed improvement.
Keep your head up!! Hey look, next Tuesday I need to go for my dental implant as well (going to run me a bloody $2,000) I am pissed, as that is my Rolex money

At least with dentistry, there is a 100% surity of the whole job being done, even if it costs an arm and a leg. I'm praying that my eye responds to these Avastin injections. JJ

I guess I had a lucky escape, no Skype headset and all.
My ears would be bleeding by now.

Be thankful you don't have to send yourself to a RSC or you'd be out of circulation for 10-12 weeks. |

Yes, I am grateful for my otherwise good health and fitness. At least I can still knock off 60 push-ups, lift weights and am pretty active physically. Honestly, guys..........my main worry is the eye - I just hope and pray it's finally cured and I can see normally out of it. Nothing else matters, those can all be fixed...........but the eye is such a delicate damn organ, it's a real worry. JJ

You must attend the New Zealand GTG, I've travelled 1/2 way around the world to be there just to meet you......
Who cares what you look like, and I don't mind if you drink through a straw. You must be at the GTG for the sake of everyone, they are counting on you to draw the lucky winner of the pen giveaway (see the pen forum). You just have to be there, we're having Indian food too your favorite and beer. I'd love to take a photo of you drinking beer through a straw, but that is up to you. What with all the photoshop depictions of you, you have nothing to worry about, you will look like $1,000,000. I've spent $1,000s arranging this GTG and so you can't let me down now man...............

JJ, you know we have a lot in common, age, family, grandkids, friends. My parts are going south also but I just count myself lucky to be so blessed, as you are also. In short time, all we be good and this blip will be but a distant memory. Peace.

We all have expenses, but heck that doesn't stop us having a good time.
I travel 1/2 way around the world at a cost of $1,000's and I just ask you JJ to travel a few miles to a local restaurant, I'd do that if I had both arms and legs broken.

JJ... first, I sincerely hope that everything is worked out quickly, your health is the most important aspect of life, and I know how frustrating it can be trying to keep our old parts working! Like... your ball joints for example... Anyway, one other thing.
Believe in Karma JJ? See.. I do, and I sincerely believe if you do something NICE for someone... oh... anyone really, like someone in San Diego maybe... something nice like... oh.. put them on the TOSSER list..... |
