Congratulations to the Saints, they played great and deserved the win.

It was bittersweet to have the game clinching interception and TD come from a player from Indiana U.

Exactly! I want the Saints...but the Colts have a more balanced team in my opinion. The Indy offense led by Manning can come back from any deficit, it seems.

I want the Saints to win, it would be a great boost for a fabulous city that's been through a lot in the last decade, but the Colts are a juggernaut. Peyton is a class act though, you can't feel too bad about a win for a guy who is an absolute professional, an all around great guy/family man and one hell of a QB

I will never root for the Colts unless the result of the game directly affects the Ravens for the better.

First time EVER in a Superbowl that I actually like both teams--not a FAN of either, but I enjoy both teams and organizations. As some of you mentioned, P. Manning used to drive me crazy too.

However, his talent is undeniable--probably the smartest and best QB I've seen in a long, long time.

Yes, pretty much. But I think there's a difference.

Maybe the Colts were cursed with bad ownership and a move was coming. Caroll Rosenbloom wanted to move the team out of Baltimore prior to trading the franchise to Robert Irsay, the new owner of the LA Rams. Irsay came into town, ran the franchise into the ground, drove away fans, drank most of the liquor in the state, lied to the governor, then snuck the team out of town overnight because he could not get a new domed stadium during a recession. With them they took their 2 NFL Championships and a Lombardi Trophy. They also lost the team name, which came from the horse racing industry in Maryland (Preakness, the middle "jewel" of the Triple Crown is held within the city limits), the colors, the records of players like Johnny Unitas and John Mackey.

Maryland responded by creating the Maryland Stadium Authority, which secured a new stadium for the Orioles, and also greatly assisted the Redskins move to Landover, MD. Baltimore's hopes were crushed when expansion franchises were awarded to Jacksonville, FL and Charlotte, NC, rather than baltimore and St Louis. The NFL commissioner then advised the people of MD to "build a museum". So the MSA decided they had to "do unto others". In Cleveland, Art Modell was frustrated with his old stadium and jumped at the chance to come to Baltimore, greatly aided by his friend Al Lerner, who would become the owner of the "new"Browns. Fans and lawyers both helped make the decision to leave the Browns name, colors and history in Cleveland. The Baltimore team would be officially considered an "expansion" team, while the Browns, via NFL decree, would come back to the league in 1998.

So, at the end of the day, Jacksonville could never support their team and they are about to move to LA, which was nearly the next destination of the woeful Colts, until Bob Irsay died and Peyton Manning was drafted. It's debatable whether Cleveland has contributed anything to the NFL since returning to the league. At least they don't have to look at Jim Brown in the Baltimore record books. The Ravens won the Super Bowl just 5 years after their inception. Baltimore remains the only town to win an NFL, USFL, CFL championships AND two Super Bowls (with two different teams). Plenty of NFL teams have moved, but no other Super Bowl winning team has been permanently ripped away from their city like the Colts were.

The East Rutherford Giants and Jets just finished building a new stadium that cost over one billion dollars. This was done without public money; the NFL lent them seven hundred million to cover cost overruns. The state will only get regular tax revenue from the teams no longer getting a cut of parking or beer sales.

The NFL knows where the money is that is why they made the loan. East Rutherford has two NFL teams Los Angeles none; go figure.

End thread jack; we now return the world to the regularly scheduled thread.
