Much would depend on the person's wrist size and whether the DS would fit.
But when faced with the same choice last year, I went for the DS. It's relatively unpopular so dealers were offering generous discounts, which makes more sense to me from a value-for-money perspective - especially since it comes with the fabulous Glidelock clasp. |

Owning a Sub LV-I would have to say Sub--but have to admit I want a DSSD next!

Matter of taste and budget . Both are beautiful watches with similar purpose . However quite different in size , look , weight , tech spec and of course price tag

If you want a common, ultra light, slimline model, the Sub.
For something much more unique, substantial and an engineering marvel, the DS. |

If this is the criteria, go buy a Planet Ocean all black. It's a better watch than both, especially for the money, there is no comparison. If you want a common watch, get a rolex period. I see them all day every day where I work. I have only seen 1 planet ocean in about 2 years, and that watch is truly a feat of engineering.

The Deepsea every time, probably the most over engineered production watch in the world

I have thought about this lately and thought the DeepSea is a cool watch. The fact that it needs to go to Rolex for pressure testing makes it inconvenient if I take up scuba diving again. The Submariner on the other hand can be checked and serviced at my local watchmaker.

if you can pull off wearing the deep sea despite its size, then go for the deep sea.. Otherwise, sub is your best bet.. If you think about it too, you can already get a sub plus an omega for the price of the deep sea!
Why not wait for the new sub? |

I don't own either
But the Deepsea is not for everyone. I'd go for the Sub.

DSSD without question. I like the LV but its a bit limiting with the green bezel for me but still a great watch.

Dont get me wrong the DS is awesome but the sub is a bit more understated. Will add a sub later this year for sure. |

Depends on your wrist. If it's huge, then Deepsea, if not, then Sub.

16610 if it is your only Rolex.
If it is not, you will likely end up with both |
