I wish I knew enough to select. But, I will be watching this thread to learn a little.

Only one on that list I would pull is the Bollinger.
For me (us) it's going to be 1991 Chapoutier cote rotie 'La Mordoree' & a 'private reserve' NY Strip from Bryan Flannery.

Don't know whats for dinner, but the "Bollinger, Brut Rose Champagne" sounds interesting, followed by my old standby dessert wine to cut the rich cheese cake or chocolate dessert.

Yup - also called "The Widowmaker" hence my choice not to include it with my wife...

but the word "veuve" here doesn't really mean 'widow'. Rather, it is slang for 'guillotine', and, if you are fortunate enough to have seen this excellent film, you heard the people of Saint Pierre talk of the arrival of the ship carrying the "veuve." The term presumably comes from the fact that the guillotine was a maker of widows.

A note for Champagne-drinkers: the House of Clicquot was founded in 1772, and in 1805 was taken over by the 27-year-old widow of the founder's son. She must have been a formidable woman, for she successfully shipped her wines under the label Veuve Clicquot 'widow Clicquot' throughout Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. In nineteenth-century England, Champagne was often called "the widow": "A good luncheon and a pint of the Widow to wash it down" (Boothby, The Red Rat's Daughter, 1899).

I had no idea, thanks for sharing! All I know is that they drink that in the Gossip Girl books, so it HAS to be good!

I would go for some:

MD 20/20
Franzia
Boons Farm

Or if you want to splurge,
Black Box

If Valentine's Day would be of any significance over here, it would be this:

If price was no object, I would choose the Tattinger or Bollinger. The Cordorniu--a sparking Spanish wine--is the best value.
