My AD told me today that he anticipated a US $6k to $6.5k retail. Are there any AD's on TRF that will be selling them once they hit the market?

A lot of sellers on TRF have been able to acquire and sell new relesase watches before, so I guess the ceramic sub shouldn't be any different.

As Tony said, be prepared to pay a premium if you want to be one of the first.

Your AD is way off. The MSRP of the 16610 is $6,000 and MSRP of the 116710 is $7,000. I bet you the MSRP of the new Sub will be a tad over $7,000

If recent history is any guide, then if and when a new S/S Ceramic Sub is released, it'll command a premium over MRSP during the first months of issue.

This was what happened with the Daytona, Sub LV, the GMT IIc, the Milgauss GV and the Deepsea and I'm sure it'll happen again, especially since the Sub is such an iconic Rolex.

It'll be interesting to see how much that premium will be, and how long it'll last.

I would have thought it will sit in the middle ref price between the current Sub and the new GMTIIc ie $6500-$6800. This would seem logical to me as the GMT does have the added benifit of a complication. Guess only time will tell.

The MSRP for the current SS Sub-date 16610 is US$6,000..........so we can expect over $7K for the new Ceramic model if and when it arrives.

However the DSSD is a different beast to a Sub, although I would not buy one I don't really think it's over priced as there aint much in the market that can compare to one. Dam who would have thought I would give praise to a DSSD.

DSSD owners don't quote me it's a one off. ;-)

I can't see why the new sub ( if and when it comes on the market ) should be more expensive then the 116710LN unless it has the glidelock . The 3186 movement has an extra complication compared to the 3135 and the GMT2c has polished center links ( one thing I hope the eventual new Sub will not have )

Well, I heard from my AD that Rolex will be expecting a price increase around March 15th-18th. So if there really is one, my guess is probably the current price for the 116710LN will be around $8000 or so since there has been no price increase for a while already. So, this would allow the sub to fit right in around $7500.

I can't see a 14.2% increase on the 116710. It retails for $7K right now and you think a $1K increase is possible? I don't see it.

If the price increase happens I think it will be more in the 5-8% range and the new sub will be in the $7500 - $7800 range.

If no price increase happens, I think the new sub will be around $7200.

The Sub has always been priced more than the GMT... The GMT IIc was priced at almost 2 thousand above the 16710 to pass the Sub, but only because it was the first ceramic.. The TT Subs go for more than the TT Gmt's, so certainly, when the Sub ceramic comes out, it will almost certainly be priced above the GMT....

And if the GMT gets a price increase before the Sub hits the shelves, then yes... You will be looking at a Sub close to or more than 8 thousand...

Off course Tools you are quite right ref the GMT to Sub pricing I didn't take that into account.
