116334 Datejust 2 - which black dial to keep?
Comparing black 116334s, which ones do you guys/gals prefer? I will keep one and sell the other....
The stick dial is true black, whereas the roman dial is like a matte or softer black (sort of like how a black steel Daytona 116520 has a true black dial, whereas the 116509 blk/red WG Daytona has a softer black dial)..you can really see the difference when the 2 watches are side by side.

I voted stick but only 'cos I'm not sure about the 'single stick at 9' for lume.
Both lovely watches though.

Sticks
Normally I'd vote for Romans but I don't like these esspecially with a stick at 9.
Sticks are the one for me on the DJ2. Jack |

I have white dial with stick . On the black the roman would do well , but I find this roman dial a bit "over crowed" and a tad confusing . The stick at 9 looks out of place IMHO .

Would have voted for the roman but the stick at 9 o'clock looks odd to me.

if you want a classy version - stick dial.
If you want a funky version - the roman. I have a roman TT version. I love it, its different and you probably wont bump into one in the wild often...... The decision is your mate :-) |

For me, no doubt, the DJII with stick markers for the following reasons:
1) I like the true black more than the grey dial 2) I do not like roman numerals ) I like applied markers (the stick ones) more than the "painted" ones because the add more depth to the dial 4) The stick markers hava a lot of superluminova so can be seen also during night ... Ciao Engi |

Thanks for all posts and votes....looks like at the moment, the stick dial is winning by a large margin....
Anyone want to buy a 116334 with black roman dial :)

I want to like the Roman dial, but, as others have said and it's been discussed before, the white stick at the "IX" position is, to me, totally bizarre and out of place. For that reason alone I have to stay stick. It helps that the stick dial is very nice on its own, too.
Had the Roman numbers been smaller and Rolex used a "IX" instead of a "-", it would have been a much tougher call. |
