Deep Sea, Why so many for sale.?

Seems alot of these are for sale. Are people finding them to big or just growing tired of them. I think they are great but... seems people are for what ever reason dumping them

I have noticed that too--at good prices too--and from reputable sellers--6700 range--not bad!

Well....Since I am one of the guys "dumping' mine

I love the watch but my complaint is that I have to dress around it because of the height of the case. My shirt cuffs bunch up behind it and I feel there is a better option for me.

I think the DJ II and GMT Ceramic will be more appropriate for everyday wear so I can tailor my watches to my clothes and not the other way around.

Nothing wrong with the watch...I think if I lived in a warmer climate where short sleeves is an everyday option it would be great!!

Is the DSSD thicker or more cumbersome that your Panerai? I would have thought they were similar size and would have the same shirt cuff issue.

I believe they are really close...it depends on the type of cuff fit or not. Some of my dress shirts would fit a panerai and others not...some vary in circumference.

I think the DS is a great watch with a big presence. I can't wait to get mine this month!

Keith,

actually the PAM wears a lot lower than the DSSD in my opinion. I do not usually wear the PAM with a dress shirt though as it is typically more casual of a watch for me. I prefer a bracelet when dressing up. I am hoping to go back to the GMT II C and a DJ II for dress up and everyday wear!!!

I'm very happy with mine but I'll admit that because of its size, it may not be for everyone. For example, a skinny friend of mine really likes the watch but it looks terrible on his wrist so try as he might, he simply can't justify buying it.

I'm thinking of going in for plastic surgery on my wrist so the doctor can fit the SDDS into my arm...so my cuff's dont bunch up.

Or I can buy a 20ct diamond chain and where the SDDS around my neck...cost is the same.

Agree with Matt's comments. I have mine in the safe for a long time already. However, I will not get rid of it since it is a great (heavy) watch. I still recall the old days (back in 2000) when I have to wait for 2 - 3 years for my 16600. I guess Rolex can turn around the situation by reducing the number of DeepSea available.

Just wondering why Rolex is making so many DeepSea available.

IMO it has to do with the size. That's why I prefer the SD 4000 instead.

Its the height not the diameter that makes a watch harder to wear. I suspect this is why so many cant live well with the DSSD.

Because it's a brick on a bracelet. I have been wearing my SD 4000 for a few weeks now and I am ready to switch to the GMT-II or Ex II for a little while to get a slimmer design on my wrist.

I did not buy the DSSD because it was just too big. I may someday, but not for a while.

I suspect people get caught up in the hype surrounding the watch and buy one without trying it on first. Personally, I have yet to have difficulty getting my DSSD to fit under my cuffs and actually find it quite easy to wear on a daily basis. But I did try it on before buying it just to make sure it would qualify as my daily wearer.

I'm with Greg. It's comfortable and works well for me. Don't have any intention of getting rid of this one.

I'm not selling mine. I love mine DSSD. It is really still one of the smaller watches in my collection. I have a number of 49mm, 50mm and even 52mm watches.

a dssd is maybe big for a rolex but is the norm compared to breitlings, omega planet ocean series, oris etc

Thank goodness you've come along mate. Now I take take a breath as I've been saying that on here for a year. Nobody seems to listen though. All you hear is " the Deepsea is "HUGE", "MASSIVE", etc. Well, no it's not. It's bigger than a datejust but try on some other brands and it doesn't seem big at all.

The Thread was started to get possible reasons on why people are getting rid of the DSSD (other perhaps than the usual reasons for flipping) not reasons why people are keeping them.

I thought this thread would go this way.

"The DSSD is too big"

"No the DSSD isn't too big"

"Oh yes it is"

"Oh no it isn't"

"Oh yes it is"

"Oh no it isn't"

"Oh yes it is"

"Oh no it isn't"

"Oh yes it is"

"Oh no it isn't"

"Oh yes it is"

"Oh no it isn't"

Hey...what about me? I've been agreeing/saying the same thing for years. I just gave up lately as I grew tired of hitting my head against that wall. TRF is great, but way too much 'Status Quo/Rolex should never evolve/Rolex is perfect/Current Rolex lineup is an untouchable Icon/40mm is the "PERFECT" size' mentality around here IMO.
