Ian, You Are Such A Bad Influence . . .
After an untold amount of deliberation and vacillation, I have finally acquiesced and purchased a new MB FP, L'Hommage a Mozart in Bordeaux, fine nib. Ian sent me a link to a Manhattan store that had a few brand new ones left in inventory. The coup de grace was when I discovered I could fill the pen with perfumed ink. I owned an ornate, feminine pen which I had won at a party. It wrote with lovely, scented ink and reminded me of wonderful childhood memories. Ian (and the rest of the pack on this subforum), your love of fine pens is contagious!

I literally just placed the order online 15 minutes ago. Had I taken delivery so quickly, I would have developed whiplash. Will post pictures upon receipt.

Ah ha! That answers my question on the pm! I am glad you went for the Mozart in the end, I really don't think you will find it too small and remember it is designed to have the cap posted on the end for balance.
I see as well that Mont Blanc do scented ink in cartridges, perfect, nice and simple to use, clean as well. Just in case you have not seen them here they are! https://refills.montblanc.com/a3.php...e=1&levelTwo=2 Here is one store I have found with deep red vanilla cartridges for sale. http://www.montgomerypens.com/produc...roduct_id=5761 To be honest with the Mozart you are a little limited in choice of ink as it is a cartridge only filler. I will look for more options! Well done Faith, it is a beautiful pen! |

Thanks so much, John! I know too well how wonderful they are as I own a Meisterstuck Classique in RB & BP, Bordeaux. The only question I have is why they discontinued the bordeaux, virtually leaving little to no choice in certain models. The Bordeaux is a rich burgundy tone and I personally feel that especially given the size of these writing instruments, the black is simply too masculine. (Many men I have known also prefer the burgundy.) What gives, Montblanc?

Ian,
Thanks so much for all your help with this. Your knowledge of pens and pen-related accessories is most impressive. Faith

Ian, your enjoyment of fine writing instruments is definitely contagious. BTW MontBlanc has a newer color(at least to me)it's light gray. Saw it yesterday when I picked up my new pen!!!

I must admit I have not noticed a difference in performance with Cartridges or converter but what is good is that the converter opens us up to a huge world of colour and shade with all the inks out there! I know folks in the pen club I go to who have literally a hundred or more bottles of ink in various shades! After some ink madness myself I have come down to noodlers Brown which is a lovely shade of brown, Mont Blanc racing green and bordeaux and Diamine Majestic Blue. I am looking for a nice violet (I had J.herbin's pussier de lune but found it a little pale) and am thinking of Mont Blancs, A good deep rich black and a slightly brighter green grass green than the racing green. Everytime you mention your Chopin I miss mine a little more! It really is time I got another Mont blanc again! |

Well done Faith!
![]() I'm much more interested to know what ink you're putting into your new Mozart. I've used MB's seasons greetings ink, as well as others like De Atramentis scented theme inks. ![]() BTW, in order to fill scented inks into my cartridge only 100th historical, I've purchased a small syringe with a safety/blunt needle to transfer the bottled scent ink to a cleaned recycled cartridge. Takes a bit of work but hey scented ink in a cartridge! ![]() Leo, that grey colour ink is called MB Oyster Grey. Depending on your nib size, the colour ranges from light grey to dark grey, with lots of shades. I'm waiting eagerly to get them. |

Ian, let me know what you think of the gray.....as I know I would enjoy writing with it. They did not have an open bottle for me to test it out and they wouldn't open one for me to use. For some reason for the last 5-6 years gray has become a favorite color of mine. MB has some strange policies, I've spent over $2000.00 USD and they wouldn't open a bottle for me to check it out!!!

The MB Mozart is a fine pen, but in my opinion, too small to be practical. I had considered buying it, but when I handled it, I found it too small...and I have small hands. In the end, I settled for the next model up, the MB Chopin.

Shahan, each to their own and that is why there are so many choices to choose from. I too own a Chopin but do like the smaller ones as well. And there are many that would say the Chopin is too small a pen and that you should get a larger one!!!

Now too me that's a big pen.....and a beautiful one at that. I will never say never but that particular pen is not on my short list. But now if someone wanted to gift one to me I would use and enjoy it(I have small hands as well and only 5'5" tall)!!!
