Catching up on some old bond flicks
I'm watching 'you only live twice' it's been a while since I've watched the old bond flicks. I've been looking for his watch; not seeing one I reviewed the thread that says what watch he wears in each movie and noticed that the watch is unditermined. It is odd they did not choose a watch for him in certain movies, It seems a critical part of his arsinal.
I do enjoy a good James Bond flick; If you haven't seen one in a while you should. What's your favorite bond movie? Do you think they will go back to a Rolex? Maybe the new Explorer I for the next bond, could be cool! |

Anything with Sean Connery. I recently watched From Russia With Love, which is one of my faves. As far as going back to Rolex, maybe. Omega is pretty well entrenched in the franchise these days.

No particular favorite, but I love the flight through the Chinese islands in The Man With The Golden Gun to his little hideout. I wonder if those were the same area as the floating mountains in Avatar?

The early Sean Connery are the best for viewing & Rolex in my opinion...the one that comes to mind though is one with Roger Moore where his Sub glows red when he turns the bezel and it becomes a super magnet....unbelievable!!!

This Bond has been a Roger Moore fan. Now where did my Aston Martin go?

I remember that. Was this also the same movie where Bond's Sub bezel spins around freeing him and Jane Seymore from being tied up? The Sub can do amazing things in the movies!

Time Warner is now buying MGM including the Bond movies, so then the watch franchise are up for bids
Rolex has long kept low profile in movies counting on automatic press/movie exposure so they won't be in... however Omega and AP are players AP ROO the next Bond Watch? |

The best Bond?
As ALL other´s here, I am the greatest Bond expert of them all ;-)
IMO the best Bond, the iconic, quintessential Bond is Connery. Of course. But the best Bond movies are ( other than Connery´s! ) Live and let die ( the 70´s!! the Coolness! the Sub! ) Goldeneye Casino Royal ( the new hardness, the Beginning, really good made! ) ( special remark: never trust BANKSTERS! ) ( and then the devastating letdown, "QoS", a Bond flick WITHOUT any TRACE of HUMOR!! ) What was the second Timothy Dalton Movie, the one in Middle America? GOOD! ( and what a >nice< Lady, that dark type! Mmmmh! ;-))) Hermann |

I always liked early Connery,.........early Moore was underrated....in L&LDie he was cold and calculating....he was great!!!!(and a great Sub by Q branch)....later more into comedy unfortunately. I really liked Lazenby......very athletic.....the story was too radical for many to accept.(getting married etc) Lets forget Dalton..he managed to turn JB into a boring theatrical ponce!!!..It proves great theatre actors are not always great movie actors,IMO Brosnan...again earlier good(Goldeneye,Tmrw never Dies)....later,lacking. I think Casino Royale is the BEST Bond movie ever made .......i was expecting Craig to be a disaster......but he was phenominal!!! QoS was just the biggest dissappointment after CRoyale(not Craigs fault)....how could it get so good and then fall off a cliff????? I think they start filming "Bond 23" Dec 2010....Director Sam Mendes,(no less)...so should be good!!!!.......lets cross our fingers. Daniel Craig will likely be wearing Omega, maybe a PloProf for Bond 23 would be good/different....But we at TRF have the satisfaction of knowing that Craigs personal choice of watch is Rolex!! |

That's pretty cool because we had a showing of Thunderball in our home theater in 16mm cinemascope last night. It's always exciting to see Bond on film projected on a giant screen and reminds me of being a kid and seeing it in the theater where the screen filled your entire field of vision. Next week we'll fire up the popcorn maker and put on You Only Live Twice.

From Russia With Love is my favorite ....... but Goldfinger is a close second! All Sean Connery "007" movies are the best!

Last thing I heard regarding Omega and Bond was that their agreement with Eon ran out in 2009 and no word has been metioned whether they are to renew it or not, so maybe Rolex will be in the next film or someone else.

BIG Bond fan here. Dr. No is still my fav, and I own them all. Casino Royale is next on my list,,,,,,,Not having an Aston in a Bond film is an almost unpardonable transgression,,,,,,,Why the change to Omega? Rolex wasnt interested in the product placement?
