Arggh Leo..Don't make me have to choose

Man that is such a hard decison as all my pens fullfill different needs.

If push comes to shove I guess my Nakaya, or maybe my duofold, or maybe the Montegrappa..No, what about my 51..Hang on though, there is that lovely nib on the vacumatic..Arghgh! Your going to give me nightmares tonight where there is someone shining a bright light in my face and demanding me to choose

Ok, the Nakaya just because it has such a beautiful nib..But I would be pining for the rest as I used it!

I would choose a fountain pen with a customised, needlepoint nib, suitable for piercing human flesh.

Upon receipt of such a pen, I shall then proceed to end my life.

A life without fountain pens is no life at all.

In the name of the Feathertouch, the Sonnet and the Holy Glenmont...

A Pen.

Perhaps a few lines written in the juice of life to show in words your feelings about such a travesty that was dealt

I could never live in a world without fountain pens. I have banished ballpoints from my presence to such an extent that, if you removed my fountain pens from my room and demanded an ink-filled writing-instrument, the only other thing I could give you would be an inkwell and steel dip-pen.

I love my little Mozart FP, but I must say, wish it had an x-fine nib. This line is quite broad for fine.

Faith, you could always see if you can get a nib exchange with Mont Blanc seeing as it is so new, give them a call!

Here is a link to Mont blanc USA FAQ you will see the section about nib replacement. As long as the nib is in mint condition, which yours will be they will do the exchange free of charge, just take it into your nearest MB AD or send it direct to MB USA and they will change the nib for you!

Have you considered having it reground to your needs Faith.

I currently have 4 of mine being customized. Can't wait to get them back!

MB nibs write very wet. Even an extra-fine would be fairly broad.

That's what the guy at FPH told me, Ian. It's supposedly coming from Italy, but I don't have a tracking number, so we'll see. My wife is out of town for a week, so I'm going to have to try to time the delivery.

I would choose the Mont Blanc fountain pen that some rat-bag burgled about ten years ago. Stainless steel barrel (not made anymore) but the nib was magnificent. Sadly the replacement MB Chopin Meisterstuck isn't nearly as good and drives me mad as I have to "encourage" the blasted thing to write if I haven't used it for a bit - and by that I mean only for a couple of hours or so - scribbling on a bit of scrap paper. It looks handsome enough but it's supposed to be a writing instrument, not an ornament. Grrrrr.

I would keep my Mont Blanc 149.

It reminds me of someone lost, some very terrible, and some very happy times, it has penned sad and sorrowful words of despair, it has written happy and joyous words, it has thanked and explained, it has rested, unmoving in my hand as I have wrestled deep in thought for the most meaningful of words, it is special, its not just a pen, it's me, it is my memories.

When we talk grinding nibs, does this process change the nib width (F to M or whatever) or is it a smoothing process?

If this is the case, I would most probably opt for the 60's EF 149 with a semi flexible nib.

At the moment it's my M800. I would love (to add) a MB146 but I'm not sure the grass is always greener on the other side.

Once you go fountain, you can't go back. Writing with a bic is to fulfill a chore. Writing with a FP is tranquil experience of one's own choosing. And writing a journal is making time for yourself and enjoying that little bit of peace from our busy lives. Cheers!
