now that i have been around here a while

I hope I have put in mu time now that I can ask a couple of question that everyone else here seems to know.

1. What is a "WIS"
2. What is a "maxi dial"
3. What is a "Tosser"

I can't wait to find out the answers and feel like I am in the loop.
thanks guys,

WIS is watch idiot savant (sp?) basically a watch enthusiast.

Maxi dial is the dial with the bigger markers such as the one seen on the Sub LV.

I'll let someone else answer the tosser one...

1. WIS - Watch Idiot Savant (one who is quite horologically knowledgeable)
2. Maxi Dial - dial with larger indices and minute hand. (commonly seen with the LV, and GMT II-C with sapphire crystal watches, and the 1680 and 5513 with the plexi crystal watches)
3. Tosser - formerly a word of affection which now must no longer be used

Hope this clarifies things for you.

BTW - you do not need residency on this forum to ask questions.

"tosser"....isn't that another term for "Rolex afficionado"......we "toss" our money to the AD's & trusted TRF sellers for Rolexes.

WIS: Watch Idiot Savant
Maxi dial: The new dial with larger indices and hands (look at the LV dial next to the 16610 normal dial)
Tosser: It's basically a softer way of calling somebody a "wanker", and a "jerk off". (read between the lines there)

In the mad rush to be funny people type stupid things. Slow down and ask yourself, "should I really say this". That is how one becomes wise.

Keith is a bigger man than I. I didn't have the guts to ask what a tosser was so I actually googled it.

One more reason for the death of the T word.

It brings out the crass in us, though I don't think Paul (Paris) meant any harm by the use of "chode", a word I'd never heard of previously.

No more use of that word either, I say.

the problem we have here is trying to use deragatory outside world terms in a light-hearted fashion on TRF...

we need a TRF-appropriate term that we can call each other that's not offensive....

i humbly suggest "folex".....so, instead of saying, "hey bro, you're such a b*stid t*s*er" or "b*stid ch*de", we can now say "you're such a b*stid folex".....

works well: "jocke, you got me again with that photoshop! you've gone straight to the top of the folex hall of fame! - signed, jj"

all other terms of endearment could then be banned. forever.

problem solved!
