Most expensive Rolex watch
OK you guys, I said the most expensive "current" genuine Rolex watch is the GMT II Ice. It has over 2300 diamonds in it. Did I loose that bet?

I think you're right, but some of the really rare vintages might reach that price as well.

I just don't get it. What is the sense of encrusting something with diamonds, if one wanted to they could cover an entire 747 with diamonds. Then it would be the most expensive plane in the world.
A nice diamond is one thing, all those silly little specks on a watch is just ....what is the word I'm looking for? brilliant

If they're not going to put diamonds on the crown it's going to be really hard for me to take this watch seriously...

Good point! They should put some diamonds on the hands and markers too!

Those "rubies" on the inner workings just cheapen it in my opinion.
Sorry guys, but they can't just stop the bling outside.
Those "red rubies" on the inner workiings just cheapen it in my opinion. I mean really, instead of trying to subtly impress my friends with my new watch, I'd be embaressed to wear it knowing they haven't shoe-horned a few carats inside it. Rolex think they can get away with it because we can't see them on the insde, but I would stll be concerned if my friends and family discovered the truth. They would think I got ripped off and I would look like a fool.

They could put diamonds on the back of the band and case too! Should be close to $1m if they blinged every last bit of it.

Hell, put some brilliants on the box, hang tag and CSOC too.
Cool pic, but that's nuts. Mark |

It's like the Leopard Daytona - hideous to most people but yet Rolex makes it, which means that there must be demand for it...

The AD in Malibu CA says he sells two Leopards a month, he could be full of it though, he called it the "Cheetah Daytona"

Last year I saw a photo of a Benz covered with diamonds owned by a sheik. He charges people to even tough it!

The GMT II Ice has a retail of $500K and change. As far as watches with no modifications from Rolex, it is the most expensive I know of.
I have seen this watch in public twice. Both times on the wrist of lady accompanying someone of serious means. I was told that watches and jewelry are commonly rented for events. Don't know what the cost of wearing one (ice) for an event would be, but that would be interesting. One of my acquaintances who is extremely wealthy said that he borrows (rents?) very expensive jewelry for special events, but hates it because every so often his wife decides to keep the piece. Have a great day !! Mike |

I never undertood that watch...why bother with a GMT and which can't be used to tell time in a second time zone? The 4th hand just points outward at shiney nothingness.
If they're going to make this style the sub would seem like the right choice - that is if there is a "right" choice at all.

Diamonds on the soles of her shoes...
"People say she's crazy
She got diamonds on the soles of her shoes, Well that's one way to lose these Walking blues, Diamonds on the soles of her shoes, She was physically forgotten but then she, slipped into my pocket With my car keys, She said you've taken me for granted Because I please you Wearing these dia-monds, And I could say Oo oo oo, As if everybody knows What I'm talking about, As if everybody here would know Exactly what I was talking about, Talking about diamonds on the soles of her shoes."
