Question about pre-owned purchase
Hi guys,
New guy here...so apologies for the newbie question. If I buy a pre-owned Rolex from a watch dealer, but the watch was registered with the previous owner (I have the Rolex card + papers + receipt of original purchase), does this mean I can no longer send in the Rolex to have it serviced? Said another way, 1) is there a way to re-register the Rolex under my name and 2) will Rolex service the watch if it is under a name other than mine? Thank you, Jeff |

Rolex will service the pre-owned watch. I understand that the warranty itself is not transferable to a new owner.

Rolex does not register ownership in that sense...
The only place where the purchasers name is initially recorded is at the Dealer. The first time that Rolex will associate a Rolex with an owner is at Service when they have your name and address to do so.. In other words: There is nothing to re-register, but if you send it in, then the service (and therefore ownership) will be done in your name..

Got it. So in the event that the original owner sent it in for service during his previous ownership, it won't raise any red flags with Rolex if a different person submits a service request for the same watch after transfer of ownership?
Thanks a lot guys. Everyone here is so helpful.. |

If the watch is outside of the Rolex warranty period, they will certainly service it for a charge. There are no restrictions. Rolex doesn't really register the watch per/se. I hear that term used alot, but really, when you buy it, the AD fills out your warranty, and is supposed to keep a copy of it on file should Rolex decide to check up on them. The name of the owner, etc is not sent to Rolex. So if you bought preowned, there is nothing you need to do. |

I believe the Rolex warranty stays with the watch regardless of the owner. So if you bought preowned, and the watch is still under warranty, you can have warranty work done without charge regardless of who's name is on the card. If the watch is out of the warranty period, Rolex will service it but with a fee and the card really doesn't matter. |
