Submariner with a serial # starting with a 0?
I went to my AD today and the sales man showed me a submariner that has a serial # that starts with a 0. He said it could be rare. It's one of the last ones of the old model. The serial number goes something like 0354D4532. Something like that. There's a "D" in the middle of the 9 or 10 digit serial number. What do you guys think? Is that a rare submariner? Should I buy it?

A serial number is not going to make a Rolex rare.......... every Rolex has a serial number that no other watch has..........
What you are seeing is the new random numbering that Rolex has instituted recently, and the first digit on that particular watch is likely a zero

yesterday i was shown the one that has 91XXXXXXX... i bought the LV with V series instead. i think it's the model that may become rare, not the serial number.... but i may be wrong if some people are into the serial number....

Yes although I disagree that serial numbers don't have a bearing on value or in this case rarity. I am willing to bet these new serial numbers on the last of the old subs and LVs will have some higher value. I think we've all see how some serial letters catch more interest...like the serial of the older LVs (I can't remember what it is)

It's just the new random serial number system implemented, the salesman is probably just trying to get you to buy the watch. To WatchnRoll, I think you are talking about the Y serial LV, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Sub.

Make sure you keep the paper and boxes for those Y and F0 LVs if you happen to own one. Should be something of a rarity in 10 yrs from now i hope.
