Sapphire Casebacks

I know that some of us here are not big fans of modifications. But, to the folks that are 'open' to the idea, which of the 2 would you prefer?

Sorry, I'm lazy.....Pix? Is the Thomas Preik the one that retains the teeth look?

Are you referring to the 'teeth' that looks similar to the original? If so, that is the Swiss Watch model.

I have seen pics of both while tossing around the idea. The Thomas Preik looked like a better caseback. I hated the Swiss Watch Custom because they actually put "Swiss Watch Custom" lettering on the caseback. Unless you could get a sapphire caseback without the lettering, I would go with a Thomas Preik.

Plus I thought that the Thomas Preik had the "teeth"... threads on the caseback... maybe I'm wrong.

Matt, I did note that in a few pics that I've seen, but their website models don't show the inscription. I guess that's something to bring up w/ SWC if one would go that direction.

This pic was the only Swiss Custom Watch case back pick that I saw when I was thinking about switching.

It appears, tho, they also have these to choose from...

Taken from a thread right here on TRF

This is the one that I remember seeing in another thread...I like the teeth and the thin size.

No idea which is stronger/more robust, though....I guess I will vote for teh Swiss one pictured above.

Cru, I read a post mentioning the Preik model had a slight 'gap' when installed? I know the SWC model provides the Hitrel gasket to insure waterproofness.

I was under the impression that was just for the PVD option? The SS option didn't have the inscription.

The 2nd photo is the Thomas Preik option.

Thanks for the pics!

I too just sent Romain an e-mail asking whether the SS models have the co's inscription on them. I'll let you know.

Just heard back from Romain @ SWC. Their SS casebacks do not have the writing on them.

I'd go SWC if you can get it without lettering.....the other just doesn't look Rolex....not that a sapphire case will...but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.
