Advice please on this Sub for sale
Hi there
I know I keep asking for help, but I've seen this watch for sale and want to know if any of you think it looks OK and whether I would have any problem with the warranty as it must already be registered in someone elses name http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/14060M_W2982.htm Any advice gratefully received. Thank you |

I have no idea who Blowers Jewelers is. Remember your buying the seller not the watch. It is a brick and mortar store, and looks like a nice store with lots of used selection that you can put your hands on, if you are not too far away go to the store, check it out. Make sure their watchmaker has checked it out.
I expect some TRF UK watch enthusiasts should jump in who know these folks. The price is steep at 3,050 pounds approaching $4,400 for sub no date. I would think $3,800 (tops) would be more like it. I see LV going for $4,800 and it lists for $1K more. There are a number of trusted sellers on TRF. DavidSW, JustRolexes, and BodyBump come to mind. You can always send them a private message in what you are interested in. You would get a better price, and they have proven themselves time and time again. WRT warranty, who cares? It is highly unlikely that you will have any problems with a Rolex during the two year warranty period, or ever if you get serviced every eight years. If you do have a problem, it is likely that it will not be covered under warranty as it was because you dropped the watch, left it in the microwave or did some other crazy thing to the watch. All the best,

Hi thanks for the advice, yes the shop is bricks and morter and sells a lot of expensive watches. I live in the UK and this is the cheapest I can find. I know I could get it cheaper in America but I don't want the hassle of customs etc :-)

Blowers has been selling watches for a long time you won't have any problems with them or the watches they sell. Over priced though.

Hi, I have been into Blowers, as they aren't too far from where I live. They are a decent outfit and everything is of a high standard, but as already mentioned above they aren't very competitive on price - and didn't seem too willing to negotiate.
Good Luck! |

if you compare it to other european prices it is not that high. yes, rolexes in the us are cheaper but you do have to pay an import duty if ordering from overseas sellers.

don't know about oz, but the us despite the expensive us dollar is still cheaper. not as much as it was a year ago, eur 3.900-4.000 is the normal price for an bn nd sub, which even at today's exchange rate is just slightly less than usd 5.000.

Nice looking piece- very clean. I would ask a question though- I am under the impression that a watches that have the ROLEX engraving on the inner bezel are dated at or after 2003 or 2004. Furthermore, it is also my understanding that Rolex began fitting SEL bracelets a few years prior to the engraving. So, if that is correct I would wonder if the bracelet that is on this watch is the one it was "born" with. If this is true I would ask where the original bracelet is and see if this could be a bargaining point.

Hi Louisa,
Another option is www.watchfinder.co.uk I have used them a number of times & found them very professional, if you tell them what you have been quoted elsewhere they will try & beat it. |

Louisa,
As I mentioned before, get a good relationship with your local AD. This price shouldnt be impossible to beat from a local AD. Just shop around a bit... |

Looks good.. bracelet is proper for that watch and I expect that price includes the GST taxes etc......
If you cannot find another for less, then that one is good to go........

I see sellers from the UK posting on occasion. You can usually get an idea of how many watch sales they have done, and can check out the "Who Who". One just today. Knowing what you really want, patience, checking resources, and then pulling the trigger are keys to success IMO.

Thank you for all your advice, I eventually bought one on Friday from my local AD who managed to get the watch in for me from another shop and offered me 0% interest, so I am vey happy and pleased that I went to an AD in the end as I have peace of mind, :)
