Trading watches - how?
How do you go about trading your watch, say from someone from another state or country? What is the usual agreement and process between the two parties?

I traded a GMT II for a LV from Tim (Train-Time). We just both shipped the watches to eachother and I threw in a check for the difference, simple. We exchanged pm's in the beginning than had a phone conversation talking out all the details. We both shipped next day air and the trade was done.

Whomever has more verifiable references ships last - and BTW - you can use me as one.

In both times I've traded online, I shipped to the seller first.
This is because: 1) I initiated the deal. (therefore felt comfortable with the seller) 2) I chose to work with sellers with stellar reputations. 3) I wanted to be fair and allow the seller to verify my watch's condition before sealing the deal and shipping their watch. I'd only do trades with sellers I feel comfortable with, and they typically would have excellent references rather than someone with a nice watch whom I do not know. Good luck!

My first two trades were simultaneous trades, and they both worked out great. This most recent one I had to trade my watch plus cash, and the seller was very reputable (I made sure), so I had to ship my watch and USPS money order first, and upon his receiving the watch, the seller ships. I prefer the first option obviously, but if the seller is reputable, then you should be good to go.

I have usually received the $$$ (wire) from the buyer and then shipped. The last time I traded and I wired the $$$ first and then we both shipped at the same time. The resounding bit of truth here is BUY THE SELLER, NOT THE WATCH!!!

Simply, I have to do my due diligence and home work on the transaction beforehand. |
