Incoming - Parker Vacumatic - Part II
About a month ago I had found my first Parker Vacumatic on ebay. I put my review here. http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=128892
I have been keeping my eyes open on Richard Binders pen tray located here. http://www.richardspens.com/ his site uses php so look for the Our "pen show" Tray icon on the home page. Richard puts a pen show tray up each month and you have to be quick with the mouse because if you want to sleep on it you will likely wake up to a sore disappointment in the morning. This month he had a nice Parker Vacumatic in Emerald pearl. ![]() All of the pens in his pen show tray have been reconditioned as needed and the nib given the masters touch. ![]() This is simply the finest writing pen that I have ever picked up. The nib is fine and lays a nice perfect wet line. ![]() This one is graded in C condition with no chips or significant scratches a perfect daily writer. The imprint is well worn but still readable as a 4th quarter of 1944 pen. ![]() The band pattern is worn down so the imprint is almost completely gone all the way down to the sterling silver. ![]() Here is a comparison with my other Vacumatic band. ![]() My new binder pen is a much lighter color and the barrel transparency makes it much easier to see the ink level. I think I will focus on vintage fountain pens with Parkers being at the front of the line for now. I also have a Parker 51 that I am in love with. http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=125155 ![]() My two favorite pens. ![]()

Hi Phillip,
Congratulations on a terrific new acquisition. That is one beautiful pen, and having dealt with Mr. Binder myself, I know what you mean when you say your new pen is a spectacular writer. He really does fantastic work. Congrats again and enjoy that new pen! ![]() |

Thanks Leo and John. Mr. Binder is great to deal with. It is unbelievable the difference a tuned nib makes. I may send my other Vac off to him.

I don't think I have ever seen a Vacumatic where the band imprints are worn down that much and the pen still in such good shape.
I would have to wonder whether it is a weak strike on the band.

That's a really lovely Vac Phillip. I agree, along with the 51 the vac are my favorite writers.
It really is worth investigating the vintage parkers, beautifully made, nothing like modern ones, great nibs, again, nothing like modern ones, and so much style. Next up will have to be a duofold from the 1920's Phillip, maybe push the boat out and get a "big red"! |

A Duofold is certainly on my list as soon as I find the right one for the right price you can bet I will jump right on it. I have been lurking Richard Binders pen show tray on his website so who knows what will turn up there. You have to be quick on the mouse with Richards pen tray they sell out quick. Hope you are well. ![]()
