A Rolex Owner Again-Thanks Tony G
Looks like I"m back.
Waiting for a black bezel insert to come in from a forum member, and then I'm going to follow the tutorial from "Tools" in the reference materials. My thanks to "gone2vegas" for directing me Tony's way for the blemish free LV, and to Tony for the second great transaction I've done with him in a year. Love the maxi-dial. |

Weird, it looks as though the crystal is installed 'rotated' slightly
counterclockwise. The cyclops seems just the smallest bit out of alignment in the photo.
Gorgeous watch, though. |

The maxi-dial is why I bought it. But now that I've been wearing it for around 8 hours, after years and years of wearing larger, generally heavy watches, I'm being taken back to my first Rolex, my 1982 GMT Master, and how light on the wrist and well proportioned it is.
I'll give the lume a try tonight, and see if it works as well as the Deepsea, my previous high water mark for Rolex lume. I'd forgotten how well thought out the iconic Submariner is, and how "right" a simple steel diver can feel in a 40 mm (very small for me) on the wrist. Some of you guys know what you're doing after all! |

Sweet!
This is also a pretty good tutorial on removing the bezel: http://www.instructables.com/id/Remo...Rolex-Submari/, as is a tutorial on Jocke's web site. Remember let the wedge shape pop out the bezel; do not use leverage on the lug (rocking) to obtain mechanical advantage. I have seen a number of lug damage from bezel replacements. Any doubts, use a watchmaker who should perform for around $35. Cheap compared to a lug ding on an otherwise pristine watch. I started with black and went back to green, I like the touch of color. Again, congratulations!

Thanks very much, both for the links and for the kind words. Interesting how much lighter on the wrist this "older" version watch and clasp feels. Running down the codes it appears that this one was built in July of 2007 (or at least the bracelet was) and is an early enough "M" model to not have the RolexRolexRolex on the rehaut or the serial number, which I kind of like.
Anybody know if the 2007 has the crown in the crystal at 6 pm on the dial? |
