Do you really need a date ??

Nope not a beautiful woman to take out but an actual time piece that tells you the date .

You see I just don't get this . My friend loves everything about the Milgauss EXCEPT the fact it has no date . So he decided not to get it. I don't know about everybody else but I just cant understand why that is such a necessity in this day and age let alone a deal breaker. My cell phone is ALWAYS on me It has the date, my computer is always on it tells me the date , my local newspaper that I get every morning even has the date on it , if my watch didn't have the date I am pretty sure I could even ask the person next to me "hey buddy do you have the date "

I mean if I loved everything about a watch the looks, feel , quality etc but it couldn't tell me the date that wouldn't stop me from getting it (if I could afford it ) . I don't know maybe it's me but I just don't get it lol.

I like the date function because I never seem to know the date when writing a check or filling out a bank deposit form.

I like having the date feature, but don't care for the cyclops on Rolex sport watches.

Nice Palm Pilot Tools!

As far as the date goes, I feel the watch is incomplete without it. When I don't see the date I feel as though the watch is cheap. Plus, a Rolex HAS to have the cyclops. ;)

Would I make an except for the Milgauss? Of course, but the price would have to be right on it.

I hardly ever need the date, but found it iconic to see the cyclops on my Rolex. For the Milgauss, I would make an exception.

I've never understood the reasoning either...........

However, it's good to have a back-up plan.......

That is the beauty of the hand date. You just add or subtract to get today’s date.

Yes!

My Rolex is the first watch I've owned with a date on it. I never thought I'd need it, but I have come to rely on it. I look at it countless times each day, particularly because I need to sign and date many documents each day.

Well, by this reasoning we don't even need watches, because phones and computers have the time as well, and probably are more accurate

For the record, I prefer to have a date on a watch if possible.

This^^^^

I want a watch to be functional. Otherwise, it's just a piece of jewelry.

I also write the date 40-50 times a day, so, for me and at work at least, the date is indispensable.

I use the date function on my watches just about every day, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't own a watch without one, because I would.

Must have the date for instant reading on the watch. I don't believe in fiddling/farting around with other technological items to tell me the date, when I can have it in a nano-second on my Rolex with the flick of my wrist.

Yea thats right who the hell came up with a watch without a date..Calling yourself a high end watch maker (Rolex) and cant even put a date in your watch??? That is the least (complication?) you could do...

I really enjoy having the date on my watches. I actually prefer the cyclops as well. On my non Rolex watches I miss not having the cyclops. Mind you, my vision up close is not great so it's like having reading glasses built into the watch.

I'm often checking the date on my watches. If I had a dollar for every time I looked for a date when I was wearing my Daytona I'd have that platinum DDII by now.

I do like having it, but could do without it for the right watch (almost did for the Exp. I). To the OP: if your friend loves the Mil, why not the DJII with the Oyster bracelet? Close enough, IMO, and I don't really like the orange.

He actually hates the DJII . We are good buddies but we definitley have different tastes . He thinks it's to big and heavy etc etc . Me well let's just say
I really really want a DJ II with the Rhodium dial blue arabics .

Looks like its 50/50 so far or close to it. I am not gona lie I never find myself needing my watch for the date . Heck I dont even set it at the right date before I put it on but I see I may be in the minority lol.

Point is I guess me personally It's not a factor that would make me not purchase a watch if I liked everything about it other than it not having a date .
