I feel your pain when taking pic's. The harder you try the fuzzeir they come out. It takes a good zoom or closeup lens, and most of all the right angle and intensity of lighting. Hangin you'll get there!

Great photos and yes the camera can make a big difference, but you have also employed a lot more skill to take the photo of the Daytona i.e. settings, lighting, background etc. Excellent photos, the details is fantastic. I am giving some consideration to a Nikon D50 with a VR (vibration reduction) lens, but your D40 is an amazing camera :)

@steve VR is real effective!!!!, and the conveinence just adds to the fun! also allowing for a greater margin of error when your still not really sure what your doing!
