Need help identifying please!
Hello everyone. Long time since i've been posting. A friend of mine showed me a rolex she purchased at a sale at a jeweler in Vegas. I asked her all the standard questions, i.e. are they an authorized dealer, did you get papers, etc. But unfortunately, she didn't papers and I believe they're not an AD. So can anyone here help me identify this watch?
I'm pretty good at identifying Daytona's but i have no idea about the other models. I've looked pretty carefully at the lugs, the crown, etc. But honestly, I'm not sure what I should be looking at. Any idea on model, date of manufacture, and authenticity? The bracelet is very light, but I know that some bracelets were made hollow. She paid close to $4k for it and I just don't want her to get taken for a ride... I appreciate it and thanks in advance!

The date magnification is off. Were you able to take off the bracelet to check the case for mode/serial number stampings?

And the coronet on the crown looks FAT... this is not looking very good I guess...
Some experts will come soon and tell if it is a fake or not...

Thanks for the feedback. You guys/girls are the experts and i appreciate the comments. I forgot to mention that the jeweler gave her a credit plan, meaning they're letting her pay it off monthly. This sort of makes me think they're a legitimate jeweler, but I could be wrong. Is she's able to prove it's not authentic, I'm sure they'd credit her. But unfortunately, I'm sorely lacking on the details of the seller.

I appreciate you dating it too. When I told her it may be over 15 years old, she seemed surprised. The bracelet has a lot of stretch in it. I'm thinking it's definitely not worth what she paid.

I am sure you will get the correct reply soon. You might have to wait till this forums answer to Telly Savalas ( who indeed is knows a lot about Rolex watches ) reads your post.

I assume you're talking about JJ? Been a long time since i've read this forum. But I thought he was more of an expert on the sport models. Also I remember Bo posting a lot on here too...

This one looks like 16013, possibly with acrylic crystal and even possibly 14K gold. Have a look on the bracelet clasp and post a pic of that if you can. There should be a bracelet part no. and next to it either 14 or 18. Yes, this is the older Jubilee bracelet with HOLLOW centre links, infamous for its stretch. Gotta be careful with these ones and have them checked out by an expert. Cheers - JJ |

I think it's beautiful piece, dunno what anybody thinks it's worth, don't care. If she likes it then it's a good deal!

well, i know how that feels. i went gray for my daytona and I don't regret it. I think in this case though, it wasn't her first choice and she got duped into thinking she couldn't afford her first choice.

Tax in Vegas is about 9%, so if that was an out the door price, it probably isn't much different than most retailers..

Interesting though what you say. I just found out they had a sale in madison ave in NYC and that's where she picked up the watch. So the jeweler is in Vegas, and they're probably able to discount all the tax b/c of this.

If she only asked for authentication and the watch comes out to be all genuine. then that it is fine. No need to tell her that she overpaid for the watch, that will only leave her with a bad memory of the watch.. after all no one forced her to buy it at that price, and as long as she is happy with the watch, that's all that matters.
Just tell her not to get close to Tourneau...
