Sub C LV vs Milgauss GV
I recently sold my Omega Planet Ocean after seeing one of our sales guys buying a GMT2c - I decided that since my money is earning no interest in the bank I may as well treat myself to a Rolex. I have sold my local AD his cars for nearly 7 years so have a good relationship so about a month ago I asked him to put me down for an 116610lv.
I popped in to see him today and he had just got in a Milgauss GV which I hadn't seen in the flesh before. After playing with it for a good 15mins and chatting to him I'm now wondering if I should go for the GV instead of the sub I ordered. It does seem that everyone has a sub or gmt and I'm thinking maybe the Milgauss might be a bit more interesting. I don't have to wait much longer for my sub which is due 2nd week of dec. My AD has put it aside for me whilst I make up my mind. I am leaning more towards the Milgauss as an everyday watch to wear to work to a shirt and tie. What are the views of the forum? |

I say go with your gut, and it seems to be set on the Milgauss.

Definitely go with your gut. I can add that I love my GV, and I rock it with everything from shorts and tshirt to suits and formal events. It feels great on the wrist as well.
You wont go wring whatever you choose, so good luck and looking forward to seeing the pics :)

You know you need an Intervention when the answer you give is.....
Get BOTH!!
I have been considering a Milgaus as well. If you go that route, do post pictures!

Having had a GV twice in the past and currently own the 116610LV i would say go for the LV. Yes the GV is nice and difference but in my eyes it is no match for the new LV, here is why:
1) GV has no date 2) I'm not keen on the matt dial on the GV. Green dial on LV is more interesting 3) Polished links get scuffed to easily. Brushed links on LV better for everyday use 4) Glidelock and fliplock clasp better than easylink clasp on GV 5) GV case sits high and is a bit top heavy It is a close call though and if I had the funds I would love another GV but if Ihad to choose between the two the LV would get my vote |

For me, I would lean more towards the Milgauss for being a less common Rolex and the highly anti mag property. unless you are going to dive with the watch or you can't live without the date.

If you have not seen the LV in person yet then you might want to wait until it arrives so that you can view it, and then compare the two together prior to making your choice.
Just a thought. |

I saw the LV in Oxford Goldsmiths a few weeks ago and the dial is lovely. Both are nice in their individual ways so I'm genuinely stuck on which to go for.
Date isn't a deal breaker but a useful complication. Neither will be taken anywhere near the sea. |

Btw those two, gotta go LV, only because I have such a strong preference for the black dial Milgauss. Good luck with your choice!

Both are great. I had a similar dilemma. I would buy GV or GMT2C. Finally I bought GV.
GV has no date and GV is more dressy, these are the biggest differences. If you wear your watch with suits, go for GV. If you wear jeans, go for LV. |

You cannot compare Milgauss with Sub---totally different watches!
Both are excellent, follow your heart to take a decision..... I took my decision: 116610lv-9.jpg And my vote is clear... Regards Tom |

does anyone know the weight difference between these 2?
Its looking more like the GV, mainly because SWMBO prefers it to the Sub I'm still undecided though |

I would suggest GV - you just won't see many in the wild. The PCL would look great against the suit and tie.
The 116610LV is nice too |

GV is very beautiful watch, with kinda "dressier" look, but my choice would be LV, ceramic or not.

Whichever you like best! However between the two, I personally prefer the Milgauss GV.

I myself have the LV Sub and GV Milgauss. Both watches are fabulous and you will love whichever you go with.
However I think the Milguss is so much smarter and because of its size it does not look like an ordinary Oyster. There is something very special about the Milgauss. When I wear it and my eye catches the green crystal outer ring glinting in the light, that makes me smile. |

GV for me also. But I am not a fan of the new LVC. I enjoy the subtlety of the GV... The detail of colours and the way the watch feels on the wrist... All superb.

If date not important, then go for the GV.
It's the only model in the Rolex product line that has a green tinted crystal. It's unique hence the selling price is little more than the white, black dial version. |

Damn... so hard to choose between those two, but I'd get the GV, because you see them less, and they can be found used for $5300 quite readily from trusted sellers, while the LV still has a steep premium. Then get the LV later.

well I've gone for the GV in the end. I decided that its a bit different and as we already have one sub in the showroom it was nice. The mrs also prefers the GV. I'll pick it up tomorrow. I think it'll be a nice talking point for people who think a rolex is a sub.
