How to sell a Rolex

What is the best way to sell a Rolex watch.
Secure, safe and reliable. Is Ebay a trustworthy method?

I don't have a problem with the bay. Just don't ship the watch out until you get paid. Simple as that.

Can't go wrong with that advice. Just take lots of good photos, place an accurate description and offer insurance.

I concur.. Ebay should be fine. just be careful..dont ship until you receive the payment in full.

as crazy as it sounds, even that wont help you as paypal will reverse transactions AFTER you sent the item and received the money.

Especially high risk scam items like apple laptops, iphones and I wouldnt doubt Rolex watches are at risk.

It also doesnt help to check out the buyer as the account could be hacked...

Anyways, those just some warnings. Everybody needs to sell the way they feel safe

Ebay is fine. You really need to have good feedback though. If you don't have a reputation on most forums-it is also tough. On TRF--you need to have at least 15 posts-but check the rules prior. Again--tough to sell though without the reputation--kind of a double edge sword as you can't get reputation if you don't sell.

Ebay is NOT fine at all ... The problem is that as a seller you have no way of protecting yourself against fraud. You have to use paypal which will then leave you at risk of scmmers.

In short, how it works is that someone may pay with a hacked acount or stolen CC to paypal. Paypal will then send you the money and after 2 weeks realise that they got scammed. They will then take the money back from you and you lost your watch.

I recommend almost any other sales method over ebay

This is very true, PayPal can reverse payments made to you. However there are ways to withdraw the funds from your PayPal account without it being able to be recovered.

You don't have to use PayPal with eBay as a seller. They are two different websites; though eBay strongly encourages PayPal. I've seen other sellers use creative work arounds to bypass Paypal. Here are some of my favorites:
"We work with non PayPal bidders."
"Traditional forms of payment welcome."
"eBay does not let us state in our listing that we accept money orders."
etc..

Hmmm. Best way is sell on TRF when you have the requisite time in and no. of posts. Take excellent photos, or have your local photo shop take professional shots, and make your price at or near wholesale. Will sell in a hurry. Do not try to make buyers pay for your errors(if any) in buying the watch too high. I agree with other posts: make your description precise, disclose, disclose disclose any and all problems, nicks, marks, specify if watch keeps good time, or if true, within COSC. Take a look at the most frequent, professional sellers on TRF to see how your ad(s) should look: DavidSW, Mosco, Bodybump, Justrolexes.....and GOOD LUCK!!

I have used Ebay for many years and have never had an issue-not one. There are also many solid sellers on there--you have to know who they are-like Elitetime aka Gagan Navani and our own Mosco-Greg G. I like TRF better myself--and have never had a problem here either. I also have sold on Puristpro and TZ--again--no issues ever. So in the end-if you are smart about things-you will be fine.

I've used Paypal for many years now and never have any problem, but recently I've heard so many stories about Paypal and now I'm kind of scare of Paypal. I guess I will avoid big transactions with Paypal.

Paypal is somewhat safe for the BUYER as they will usually side with the buyer and most scams work better against the seller

I would not recommend ebay. Try here first on TRF.

TRF first and if that doesn't work try Ebay always using Paypal and Registered Mail.
