Raymond Weil VS Oris VS Frederique Constant
Hi there,
Alongside a Rolex purchase, i am also thinking of a lower level purchase of a watch, mainly as a beater for weekends and non-business use. Im thinking in terms of a Swiss made, watch brand with a lower price, between an Oris, Raymond Weil, or a Frederique constant. Which would be more valuable as a 'watch', in an horological sense if you get what i mean. I know that all the previously mentioned brands haven't got much of a history, but anyhow, which is the best of the lot? Im namely between a Raymond Weil tradition chronograph quartz, Oris Artelier Complication moonphase automatic, and a Frederique constant Persuasion Business Timer moonphase quartz. |

Personally I'd rule out anything quartz....but that's just me.

Oris, without a doubt. It`s very well made watch, with looks that suggest much higher price than you`ll pay for it. You can`t go wrong with it!

Oris. They don't make quartz watches, so it helps. All the other ones are just fashion items.
Also, don't rule out Ball Watch Company, similar price-point and much more watch for the money.

When I was a young lad, the first Swiss watch to catch my eye was a Raymond Weil Don Giovanni. Something special about that. Nonetheless, nowadays, not many ppl find them too appealing. You may want to consider Tag Heuer also.

I wouldn't consider Frederique Constant a fashion brand. They do develop and produce their own in house movements (fc-300 series), but also use ETA for their lower range watches.
